UFC 215: Nunes vs. Shevchenko 2 was a mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship held on September 9, 2017, at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
A UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship bout between current champion Amanda Nunes and multiple-time muay Thai world champion Valentina Shevchenko took place at this event. The pairing met previously in March 2016 at UFC 196, with Nunes winning by unanimous decision. The pairing was initially expected to meet again at UFC 213. However, the bout was canceled just hours before the event started as Nunes pulled out, citing an illness despite being medically cleared to fight. Due to the cancelation of the Johnson-Borg bout, this fight acted as the new main event.
Nunes instead fought Shevchenko at UFC 215 on September 9 in Edmonton, Alberta. Nunes won the closely contested fight by a split decision. Out of 22 media outlets, 10 scored it for Nunes, 10 for Shevchenko, and 2 scored it a draw.

@@tinaruzol7256 that's right. Watching both fights again and analyzing objectively, Amanda was always in control of the pace. This second fight was more even but I was thinking that whomever got the takedown would take the victory. Amanda clearly did that at the end. Valentina's a true warrior, but the lioness won both fights

Wrong. Plus if you look at the fight objectively with a functioning pair of eyes it is clear that virtually all of Shevchenko strikes came up short or hit Nunes gloves. She virtually never even touched Nunes face or body. That’s reality blind man. 😀😀

I sort of think it was a fair call... Nunes won 1 & 2, Valentino won 3 & 4. Nunes won 5 with 2 takedown... Valentino was very busy but a lot of her strikes missed. She landed a few good strikes for sure, but they were in the rounds she clearly won, the rest of the time she was missing the mark.

I can see how they might say Nunes brought the fight. But all she did was get hit back once she closed the distance. The only thing nunes did better was her accuracy. But she threw less blows and most of them were leg hits. This one definitely should have went to Shevchenko. How can you trust the sport when this happens?

I always heard about Shevchenko being robbed in this fight. The first fight was great. Nobody was robbed, they both looked AMAZING. This fight was so boring I wouldn't even want to claim it if I was shevchenko, but i understand that as one of her only losses, why it bothers her. Anyway....... If i was her or her fans I'd look past this, its not always about winning after all..
