Please bear with me, this was my first time being exposed to "traveler english" and my brain collapsed lol. Oh by the way, this video should be called: "Me not knowing what the P word means for 41mins straight" hahaha (yes, this was also my first time hearing that). Listen, i had to censor a lot of stuff in this movie due to KZfaq's policies and also because yeah, i'm not a big fan of sl*rs either.
I should probably write the word SNATCH and REACTION somewhere in here for mister Al, (algorithm)

My thoughts exactly! 😅 to use the phrase "all willy nilly" in proper context is a sign of an outstanding grasp of American English nuance and culture. Impressive for a non-native indeed!
@akyhne

Except willy-nilly origins from the UK. Its modern origin derives from Shakespearian expression "will ye, nill ye". Shakespeare was of course English. But it actually has its history back to 880 AD.

there are so many more layers to this movie on top of the language though… every character is so well written and performed, you don’t need their backstories to know everything about them and how they fit in. it’s a great representation of the late 80’s and 90’s london underworld and it’s dynamic, but also a sort of homage to the pop culture of that time

If you liked it, there's a handful of others that are very similar, or have the same feel to them. From the same director, there's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and also RocknRolla and The Gentlemen. He uses a lot of the same actors as well. There's another one, different director, The Layer Cake, that is about UK gangsters as well; it's a bit more serious but also really good.

100% i noticed that she was talking during that part, too. Snatch is a tightly written and directed script. There's almost no fat in the movie, so most dialogue counts. I think most people arent USED to a tight script, they just lackadasically watch a movie. if you do that, you miss the true brilliance of these kinds of movies, like Back to the Future and The Godfather. You miss the box of plutonium or Sonny speaking out of line, and you later on, you miss out on part of the movie b/c you werent paying close attention.

Btw, Snatch is one of the best Guy Ritchie 'mafia' movies. He made many, and this is probably the best of his classic works (the best modern ones are The Gentlemen and King Arthur). But he also made an absolutely amazing fantasy movie that I totally love, which was a total box office disaster 😢. People are stupid... it also had the absolute worst promotion and came out in the same week as two major blockbusters. One of the worst things to happen to modern cinema in my eyes because it means we won't have any such amazing movies again :'( :'( .. same thing with Alita: Battle Angel. An amazing movie but with brainless, lazy promotion so nobody knew it even existed until it came to Blu-ray. So from Guy Ritchie, I totally recommend: King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (btw, the worst thing about it is that it's supposed to be about King Arthur; it would be better as a totally independent mythology because it is - it's a very different take on fantasy).

The movies is actually quite great. The show is good but more so liike a gta the show with constant side-missions reffering mainly to Snatch. Also I hate when these days Netflix does this "Guy Richie Project" when he didn't write of make none of say casting etc. dedicisions but just came in to direct 2 episodes of it. It was very much the same with Tim Burton and Wednesday. It is straight up false marketing imo. Ofc the directors get paid handsomely for doing some lightwork but people will take it then on your name good or bad.

Snatch is a great film, however you should watch Trainspotting it's a brilliant dark comedy, about the underbelly of society (this time Glasgow rather than London) and Ewan McGregor's break out film. 'Snatch" has multiple meanings in slang such as to take & a certain part of a woman's anatomy, the use here refers to both meanings, Pikey is a derogatory term for a Traveller (romany) like Tinker or Gippo (Gipsy) specifically aimed at those from Ireland or of Irish Traveller descent.

Pikey didn't used to be an offensive term in most people's eyes. But it's slowly become one over time. Depending on where you're from, and how much interaction you have with Gypsies, determines how often you hear it. Where I'm from we have travellers passing through fairly often and they tend to leave their campsites in a mess, cause issues in towns getting drunk and fighting, and steal things. So they're called Pikeys pretty frequently around here.

Fun fact when Bullet Tooth Tony goes into the hallway to retrieve the case and has to repeatedly shoot Boris the Blade to make sure he's dead - he shoots exactly 7 rounds through the wall before breaking down the door and reloading. This is accurate - .50 Caliber Desert Eagles have a standard mag size of 7 rounds. And you can also count the number of rounds he shoots in the hallway at Boris at exactly 7 too which explains why he's empty when he goes to kill Tyrone. Just a nice touch of movie realism for bullet count.

What, just think about Kill Bill especially first half of the establishment or just so many waay more violent movies like Se7en, korean movie of I Saw The Devil or even Arnold movies like Commando (or Rambos after First Blood) where the violence is so all encompassing that you don't feel it 😅 That's not even touching the ug movies like og french Martyrs, The House That Jack Built, Taxidermia, Irreversible (it has one Very long devastating scene but it is pretty justified to get the right emotion at the very end and understand the previous intensity. I kinda love that movie even tho not defininetly for everyone, Vincent Cassell is so good in it). I feel like Snatch is very tame for the comedic aspect 😅 Sometimes a movie with way less violence feels more violent for the mood of it feeling violent. Like in movies like Amores Perros or Reservoir Dogs where really ain't much of it. You just have that atmosphere of violence lurking kinda as a character of it's own. It's a talent in thrillers as is creating the atmosphere of fear in horror (which is super hard).

You Tube probably gave her warnings and to bleep it out most likely.

England is where English comes from, so it's a microcosm of hundreds of regional accents and colloquial slang, and unless you're from there, it can be a challenge sometimes to sort through it.

I have seen this movie many times. I am not as keen as I think I am. I just now realized why "All Bets Are Off!" -because Gorgeous George was in hospital

Now that you have seen this you should check out LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS. ROCK AND ROLLA is good too.( tho not a Guy Ritchie movie) Also LAYER CAKE is a good British gangster film.

Not the most wholesome subject, but since you seemed to wonder about the eating abilities of pigs. I've heard of several cases where someone working with pigs have (probably) had a heart attack or stroke in a pig pen when nobody else was around for a while. they usually just find some torn clothes and boots on the scene. Or perhaps it was a murder... Pigs are scary! But to be clear, most animals that like to eat meat (including pets like cats and dogs) will start eating you if you lie around dead long enough and they are stuck with you and hungry. Hope I didn't upset anyone. Keep reacting and have a great weekend!

Turkish is the film’s narrator, so he’s telling the story. It’s an outlandish story and could never be true, including the story of how he got his name. The characters in the film appear to be Cockneys, i.e. east Londoners. Cockneys have a specialized slang called Cockney Rhyming Slang. They will take a word like “mouth”, rhyme it with a two word phrase like “north, south” then drop the rhyming word so “mouth” becomes “north” as in “shut your north”. It was invented to keep outsiders from knowing what they were talking about. In Rhyming Slang, “Turkish” is “laugh”. Turkish Bath=Laugh. “Having a laugh” means putting someone on, like telling them something that’s not true just to mess with them. So, in the east end, someone might respond with “Are you having a Turkish?” The fact that the narrator is named Turkish is the clue that the story will be a tall tale, that is, a really exaggerated story.

'I've got no time for grouses' say the subtitles. It should say 'grasses', UK slang for snitches.

I have the feeling that since you liked this film you'd also like Guy Richie's previous film, "Lock, Stock, & 2 Smoking Barrels" as it features a similar blend of great dialogue, editing, action, and an amazing soundtrack.
