Truth has always been offensive to people who don't want to hear it and to organisations to whom the truth would damage them. A prime example is how Catholics get offended when the truth about their churches abuse to children is brought up.

Dude. Fuck honesty and being strait up. I joked, well actually she joked i was petrified in whay today would be a gender studies absolute nightmare: not knowing if you are going to act pr speak in the most antisemetic hateful way possible or not. And it does seem weird right you usually don't go from "ok is this asian joke going to land or am i gonna be stared at blankly, and spewing literal nazi speech. Yet thay was the very situation i was in, i m sure you'll understand when i tell you what context. Backstage in school theatre thing with a 90 yo woman who looked 70 spoke like she was 50 and acted like she was the best pf all ages, holding a folded and unfolded rumpled but clearly painstakingly taken great care of, piece of cloth. Ok i feel that if i don't include the fact that piece of cloth was the yellow star she wore in aushwitz-B as a pre/ teen. I had so many questions, i was like holding this piece of hostory then suddenly a thread broke and came really loose, like tje kind of thing that drives you mad on your shirt, costs a month wage on a suit, and is literally invaluable damage to ghe most precious memories we have. I was half crying half pissing myslef half apologizing and half trying to fix it -NEVER DO THAT I SO MADE IT WORSE- Then she laughed like a 20 yo and told me "i do book tours 5 times a week do you think i would actuamly pass on my yellow start to a group of clumsy kids line you every day. Fuck no! That cost me 3e wherever here try the real one i have had it pinned And the. She randomly throws from her poket something i d never forget, evey little detail was a story, she showed me that stain of blood from a beating from.... having blood on her clean yellow star. Stuff line that. My mother entered for some reason and cried. I did too. She did too. We realised we had spe.d 2h and i had skipped the worst lessons so she just took me and my mom to the secretary and didn't bother to come up with an excuse, everyone knows her she is a legendary outspoken sadly dead now survivor, forgot the name but the person was incredible and her book is in french a famous real hhistory called "une petite fille privilégié" literally "a small privileged girl bjt remove every ounce of loaded meaning, privilaged not as in she's a rich queen or whatever but more in the sense, what a privilege it is to live aftef that when everyone i know is dead. Amazing book

I love how when he's put in a corner during an interview, he just comes out swinging hard and literally batters them with the truth!... But then he instantly changes the subject saying something like "Look at how yellow is this couch is. It's like the sun!" 🤣That's a master at work.🤘

For real.... Like he was going to turn into Satan... Right there, right then.... They were freaking out that he was going to say something vulgar and embarrassing for them to have on their show .. I expected them to cut the sound off his mic and cut the camera away from him and go to commercial immediately, especially when he started talking about the Catholic Church, swapin those priest around like sea world....LoL... They really started panicking then. .

Hey Amanda! I totally agree with you. I see many people taking things far too seriously these days, and to be honest, life is too short. At the end of the day, people will either like you or they won't and it really doesn't matter. Those who don't like you won't be important to you or your life, and they aren't the type you want in your life anyway, so it's all good. As I always say, just be who you are, say what you feel is right or wrong, and joke about whatever you wish. As long as what you joke about doesn't come from a place of hate, then all is good. I think we kind of share the same humour, and I think Bill is very funny. I love the way he puts things and gets your imagination working. A great reaction as always hun. I wish more comedians would lean into controversial stuff a bit more like Bill does. He takes no prisoners and shows zero bias when it comes politics, gender, family and so on. It's better to be direct than beating around the bush. At the end of the day, it's comedy and these are jokes. Even when he singles out people in his acts, it's not with malicious intent. If somebody gets offended it means that he's doing his job (though I do understand why some of his jokes would be a turn off for people).

Not only brutally honest and hysterically funny but his real secret sauce is that he does not belittle the people that he makes fun of. It's his common sense that is so refreshing and on occasion his amazing insight that takes your breath away. His routine on how he gained the insight to have empathy for the lesbian who walked into him on the streets of New York is one of the highlights of his comedic career.

Amanda, He is a comedian, he is one of my top five favorites today. If someone is offended, they can turn the stream, video, channel, etc. to something else. I agree with you, everything he says is raw and the truth, and funny as funny can be. Louie CK is another one that makes me lose it. We all have a lot of pressure(s) in our lives, if someone comes along that can help you forget about those situations, even for a few minutes, then God bless them! Hello, Bill Burr is year older than me he was born 1968 myself 1969 (Gen X), we more than likely watched the same comedians growing up (Eddie Murphy who is not that much older than us) The late George Carlin, Sam Kinison, Richard Pryor It seemed that you could say so much more in the 1980's and people laughed together. I truly believe technology made SOME thing worse. People used to talk face to face and you can tell if somebody was serious or not. I try to stay "old school" I do have a desk top computer, I have a flip phone Refuse to get a smart phone, It is impressive to people that I can bring up stories, facts and not have to look something up. The Younger gentlemen That I used to work with I would have them look up the older comedians, different music and they were hooked. We sure are missing something with this generation.

Burr is what comedy is supposed to be. He tells the jokes and if you’re offended it’s on you because he jokes about everyone and everything. No one is left out or discriminated against or picked on. Burr has said in interviews that, coming out of the Boston comedy scene (which is particularly ruthless) he likes to start out digging a hole for himself and turning the audience against him so that he can climb his way out. Not only does that make you a better comedian in terms of being funny, it makes you better at crafting a joke. Bill Burr is kind of a litmus test for whether or not you are someone I'd want to hang out with.

My favourite comedian ever. If you listen carefully to his sets and how he couches his words hes pretty smart, he says some pretty outrageous things but how he phrases them means hes managed to avoid being cancelled (yet) which is pretty remarkable.

We need that back, where we all had a sense of humour and joke about anything and laugh. Here in Canada you could go to Newfoundland and buy the best Canadian joke books on the Newfies themselves and any other nationality’s that settled here.
