Thanks for your videos! Down to Earth and informative! Just here for "winter bloom prep" advice, so thanks for the chill vibe! Also... My Mama has an Amaryllis (and many off chutes from her bulbs) that are the generations of flowers/plants given to my great-grandmother as a wedding gift. She blooms every Winter... Sometimes many blossoms... Sometimes a few... But, they are a gorgeous coral/orange color & we always acknowledge Grandma visiting us and blessing us with her love and beauty... Peace. xo

Good explaining from expert of Amaryllis so I will do to store AMARYLLIS in order to take blom for Winter and Christmas season. So Thanks a lot for your video clip. Very useful for me, I got these Amaryllis from a good swedish friend last Christmas (2021) Than I took care these 2 bulbs well - finally it got flowers in July - very surprising for me ✌ Now They are outside - at the balkony. So I will take them for storing before Christmas season wil come. 🎄✨🎀 Best Wishes from STOCKHOLM - SWEDEN😇✨

We had one in our house for years as a house plant. It never bloomed and it belonged to someone else before we got it so we didn’t even know what it was. Planted it outside one spring on a whim and it sent out 3 huge blooms. Luckily we live somewhere just warm enough for it to survive annually

In my zone 8b garden, I can either bring them inside to place in a fridge since we are hot in September or just wait until springtime and they will bloom outside in April and May.

Thank you for the video. I subscribed for more. I have my first amaryllis. Today is June 6th. Right now I have just the leaves but I have been watering the plant when needed. When would probably be the best time for me to prepare it for dormancy and do I need to re-pot the bulb before I do.

of course they're exceptions to the rule when it comes to growing species Amaryllis like the Beautiful . Papilio aka the "Butterfly Amaryllis". Papilio doesn't go completely dormant.

I got my Amaryllis to bloom . I have 5. But for some reason each bloom only lasted for exactly 3 days. Would you know what would cause that? I got the bulbs from a reputable store.

I’d say place them outside during the summer so they can soak up as much sun as possible and fertilize monthly during that time

I'm confused, watched another person say that she let's the foliage stay on the bulbs until they yellow, then remove them. Does it make a difference with blooming???
@plantvibrations
@plantvibrations 11 ай бұрын
You can leave them on if it’s convenient. However by this time of year they ought to have absorbed sufficient light energy if grown properly

I have a question, I bought a few Amarilis Plants and they are amazing, I live in CNJ and the winter can be brutal, how long can I store the bulb once it goes dormin, I'm planning to go away for the winter so can I keep it in a cool dark place till I return?
@plantvibrations
@plantvibrations Жыл бұрын
You can leave stored for 12-16 weeks easily

Could I store my pot with a cardboard box over it in a room that's not too hot as I don't have another place to store it? How many months in the dark and does it need to be completely dry from now on? What should I do to the roots that are coming through the bottom of the pot? Thx.
@plantvibrations

Yep that’ll work. Leave it for about 8 weeks and totally dry. After the eight weeks repot in fresh soil and you’ll be able to bury the emanating roots

So my Amarillis was given to me xmas time. Bloomed until January. It's February and I have no idea what to do with it. I've cut out the stem and dead flowers. But I see some leaves coming up from the bulb. So what should I do? take it out and put it away for two months?

So I am thinking about getting my first amaryllis. What is the deal with the wax covered and moss covered ones they sell online? Can I get one of those or do I need to buy a regular bulb? I know the wax/moss covered ones go 50% off after thanksgiving is why I am asking. thanks!

sometimes the problem is if they're not able to get cool enough temperatures when theyre in dormancy. some gardeners recommend that they get to 45F for the majority of the dormancy to induce new flowers after wards

By the time autumn arrives your plants should have had sufficient time to absorb sunlight thru the leaves and it is likely that the leaves are finishing up at that point anyways
