HERE ARE SOME AWESOME fun facts: Somebody actually identified the people in the car at 2:21. The car was registered in 1911 in NYC. The name of the owner was the Lochwicz family. The family lived at 548, Eighth Street. The car was an E-M-F 30 touring car. The father called Florian Lochwicz They had 3 kids, and you can see the servant as well. The father was born in Prussia, in 1871 and he came to the US in 1890. The wife, Antoinette Lochwicz was his cousin and she was born in NYC. They were most probably cousins. Antoinette`s /the wife`s/ father escaped from Poland from the January Uprising in 1860s and settled down in New York City. Florian owned a lot of barber shops in New York, and he died in 1918. His death was published in many papers, leaving 5 children behind.

Personally, I liked the cars from the 1930s. They had the running boards, the big curved wheel wells, and the pointed grills protecting the radiators. They were just so cool looking, and it was about the time Ford started putting V8s in cars. The music wasn't that bad either. I can picture it in a speakeasy.

@@deejayrodionnah I’d personally enjoy living in those older eras. People seemed to be more happy about their lives. They were proud of America, and they felt hopeful. There were less people divided. A lot less degeneracy. People socialized more, had better manners. Cleaner streets. Nicer cars with real leather seats. Products that lasted longer. Better food because it was actual more natural. They didn’t have to deal with microplastics. People had their flaws like racism or sexism. But compared to now? We are a huge mess as a society.

Same here, what decade(s) specifically? For me the 50s like the bel airs and ford customs but 50s cars as a whole looked so stylish. And it's interesting to see the shift from more conservative and simple but still textbook looks in the early 50s to more flashy cars in by the late 50s with the colorways including the dual colorways both exterior and interior, tail fins, large amount of chrome, more of a box frame rather than a curve more rounded frame. but I love both designs!

People using the camera are also the ones to blame. In the 70s, 80s and 90s people were filming for fun and on special occasions. Now people film everything, most of the time to earn money or to defame someone without any respect for the filmed ones. Before it was fun, now it's money. Well, this video was partially inaccurate. A lot of the time periods got mixed up, and the transition from horse to car wasn't as fast as the video made it seem. In fact most average people didn't own cars until the 1920s. That video in the 1900s section was actually a clip from the late 1910s-early 1920s, because if you pay close enough attention, the cars are Ford Model T's, which didn't become mainstream until the mid-1910s.

It’s important to note, that cars are going through a dramatic change in technology and appearance. Pretty soon you will have those concept looking cars driving around. I keep noticing that car manufacturers are constantly making changes to the car’s exterior, interior and technology. Toyota’s Hey Toyota function is already like having an assistant to do things for you - an AI. A smart car. The only gripe I have is that cars may be becoming more advanced, but also they hold a higher price tag. I am very impressed of what they did with the new Toyota Prius. The car looks futuristic. Honda has improved the interior of some of their cars, making simple yet very easily understandable and usable. I can’t wait to see what cars gonna look like in another 20 years. Because right now, they look awesome. Pretty sure we will move into the better technology again. With the help of technology and teamwork we will run into the future very very fast. I believe so. Unless life happens and we will have another world war like some sickos like to say, then we can kiss the future goodbye. In order to avoid that, we need good leadership that would pull the whole nation away from destruction. I don’t want war, because if it were to happen now, everyone would destroy themselves a hundred times over if not more. Let’s pray that this won’t happen. I really want to see the future before I die, at least that. I am very impressed of how technology advances and can’t wait to travel around a bit. It’s awesome.😎

2020: i wonder if people were safer with cars back in 19- 1920: *ROAD IS ROAD.*
@paulbrower4265
@paulbrower4265 3 жыл бұрын
The speeds are higher -- but 1. the roads are far better. I'll take any expressway over the lightly-traveled roads of the 1920's. Even the old roads from the time have often gotten safer due to widening, banking, and realignments that smooth the curves. Add to this, we have better warning signs. 2. drivers are better. We have licensing requirements that effectively keep idiots off the road (the written tests are effectively intelligence tests easy for people of average intelligence to pass, but tough for dummies). Teenagers who do drive must first take drivers' education that impresses upon them the dangers of bad driving. People can lose licenses for really bad driving, but that is my third point. 3. traffic-law enforcement is far more effective. Cops have radar guns and know how to detect drunk and drugged drivers. Cops have Breathalyzer devices to nail those who drive boozed up. DUI laws are real. 4. pedestrians have been trained to cross streets at crosswalks in accordance with traffic lights. Pedestrians and bicyclists do get ticketed. 5. the cars are safer! Safety glass came into existence in the 1930's so that it is far harder for people to get thrown through windshields to get fatal injuries from glass that lacerates people at the vulnerable throat. Seat belts save lives. So do padded dashboards, collapsible steering columns, reinforcing bars, and crumpling bodies that take the impact. Even radios tend to reduce the chance of someone falling asleep while driving.

The “1900s” footage looks like it’s from the late 1910s or early 20s. There definitely weren’t that many Model Ts driving around, especially with it only becoming available in 1908, and not mass produced until 1913. 1900s traffic would be almost indistinguishable from 1890s traffic.
@skyscall
@skyscall 3 жыл бұрын
I picked up on that too. I was looking for early '00s footage where the first automobiles began appearing on the streets, but it sorta just jumped from the horse buggy days right into the Model T days

@@monkyfunny2171 I know at least the New York footage where the car was following the camera and surrounding shots isn’t. That was from 1911 and horses still dominated traffic. The “1900s” footage look mostly from post WW1 to the early 20s to me. And these are from the cities remember. In what was left of the nearly extinct American Frontier, cars would be a rare sight pre-WW1. Accomplishments like the first transcontinental Lincoln “Highway” and mass production of the Model T in 1913 would change that soon however. I’ve had elders from the retirement manor talk to me how their parents told them stories about this transportation revolution of the 1910s and the disappearance of the American Frontier. They themselves told stories about the desperate times of the Dirty Thirties.

Also notice the jump in quality between 1920 and 30? That's due to the introduction of microphones in 1925-1926, which was then called "Electrical Recording". Before, people recorded in practically the same idea that Edison had: Use a horn to focus the sound to a diaphragm, which vibrated a needle, which etched a piece of rotating wax

Funny thing is, the quarantine efforts of the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic were more strict than our 2020 efforts due to their need of catching up to the spread after the war. No special services (food deliveries, food markets, local transport, other non-essential emergencies) were allowed to function and you had the possibility to starve for months if you didn't stock enough food and supplies before your local government initiate the mandatory quarantine notice and enforcement policies. So whenever I got bored staying at home, I always look back at the previous pandemic and just be glad that we're only dying of boredom and not dying of thirst and hunger :D Unless you caught The Varus, then you're only dying of plague and boredom :D
