I play with a "forehand distance driver only" guy. And I'm a mix of angry, nice run and terrified of water, even when I have my 16-foot disc retriever.

Discomfort helps you grow. Just do some non-scored rounds where you mix it up. Throw a few extras. Eventually, you'll wonder how you ever got by without a backhand.
