Its awesome radio i love watching it..

I have a 940SAT as well, pair it up with a Radio Shack DSP-40 which can easily be found on eBay for $20 USD and it makes one heck of a receiver, comparable to any of the more modern DSP rigs today. My 940SAT is my daily rig and has all the mod's done to it. I get tons of compliements on the voice (transmit) audio quality daily. Great rig!

They're getting old, though, and many are starting to have geriatric radio issues. The power supply filter caps failed in mine, causing a lot of hum -- at first just for a few minutes at turn-on, and, ultimately, all of the time. I replaced all of the power supply caps, including the ones on the board under the speaker, and it's as good as new. Great radio; mine was a gift from my father-in-law, W6RRZ. Thanks, Dad. @buzukitime Another issue, which affected mine and I can see is a problem with yours as well, is that the lights on the sub display (LCD) burn out. I replaced mine with LED's, so I won't have to worry about that until well after I shuffle off this mortal coil -- I'm nearly sixty years old. Two LED's, a couple of resistors, and Voila! It all fits on the existing board.

Hello gorgeous outfit! I have one here, is a limited version built for the Japanese market and is in new condition! everything works perfectly and this aesthetically impeccable. Unfortunately this also with my display the lamp burned and led by'll change as soon as possible. It's a beautiful machine ..
