AmaWaterways AmaCello | Day 3 - Medieval Brancion | Essence of Burgundy & Provence River Cruise

In this episode we are onboard the AmaWaterways AmaCello for our river cruise through Burgundy and Provence in Tournus.
For our morning excursion we visit Brancion Castle or Chateau de Brancion dates back to the middle ages. The castle was built in the 12th century with some of the buildings dating back to the 11th century.
In the afternoon during our wine excursion we visit the vineyards of the Chateau De La Greffiere for a tour and a tasting. We then continued through the famous Poilly-Fuisse vineyards to the Rock of Solutre.
This cruise was filmed on October 6th to 13th, 2022 on the AmaWaterways "Essence of Burgundy and Provence" River Cruise itinerary.
I’ll be releasing a full ship tour of the AmaCello in a future episode, however I do feature a French Balcony cabin tour in this video.

So many castles in France. I didn’t realize how many there were! I loved the fact we were the only people there when we visited. Made it really neat to explore.

Just a little concerned with your videos. Although we liked them, didn't talk about other options at each AMA stop? Everyone is not fully into wine for each stop. Thanks

Hello! The morning tours included on my AMAWaterways cruise were not wine focused as I showed, however the afternoon choices on my specific cruise was either stay on the ship and sail to the next port, a biking tour or do a wine excursion. This is why you saw me take many of the wine tours in the afternoon as those were the choices given to us during our sailing. Hopefully that makes sense?

Would travellers who need walkers and cannot climb stairways find a home on your tours?

Hello Thomas, river cruising in general is a bit more “active” than ocean cruising. Keep in mind that sometimes the ships dock side by side on the rivers, which means depending on the ports, you might need to walk up stairs to depart the ship as most river ships do not have an elevator that goes to the sky deck. The excursions are also a bit on the active side, you would need to be able to climb into a coach sometimes, and most of the tours are walking tours on uneven surfaces in Europe (cobblestones, etc).
