Personally i wish amazfit retained the slightly raised bezel for the GTR2 like the original GTR to protect the glass (and for peace of mind). like what Jerryrigeverything says, glass is glass, and glass breaks.

Definitely upgrade The gtr 2 is the most beutifull watch I ever saw. Beside that As you said there are many improvements . You forget to mention that there is the classic version with leather strap and it's a hell of a beauty!

I am using GTR47 for 3 years now since I got it for a euro from my operator as a gift for contract extension. And i am delighted. looks 90's and it is fast and responsive because i am using it as a (go figure) just a time piece, and bluetooth notifications for phone, when my phone is in my pocket or with my hands on the keyboard, weel etc. Which is kinda cool feature for a man of my age, so I can decide if notification is important or just ignore it and keep rollin... Phone makes you take it and check it. GTR works like charm. I need to charge its battery twice a month! Considering we plug in our gadgets twice a day these days, it is great deal.

Just got the GTR1 for 40€ brand new, I think it's a great deal for the price

Great review!if I'm not mistaken, amazfit released an update for the GTR that improved on the GPS so the GPS is on par with the GTR2. That was my only gripe with the GTR. I use it more as a sports watch than a smart watch so it's perfect for me now. Don't really care about answering calls or talking to alexa etc. 2021 price for the GTR is around rm300 in Malaysia (about gbp60) so yeah its worth more than the price!

GTR1 battery >>>>> GTR2 battery so only because of this upgrade is not needed. You don't need a watch to listen music and talk on it you have allways your phone on your poket. Also if GTR2 could support eSIM and talk without having the phone is another story. What you have not told (or maybe i didn't hear) is if GTR2 has SpO2 senzor built in (maybe this can be an upgrade reason)

GTR1 is otherwise a great watch but it has two big issues: GPS tracking is inaccurate like you said and heart rate is all over the place while training. Hopefully this new version is much more accurate.

Thanks for the comparison, very helpful. I like my GTR1 Steel lots and I don't find myself too excited about the new one. I am not sure why. I like how the watch face management is better. Otherwise I am not bothered. I had a Samsung Gear S3 in the past and the talking to your watch thing, I just found it silly. I had my phone in my pocket, I just took it out for calls, not put my wrist to my mouth/ear. Does anyone use that feature for real?

It is NOT tru about the bad GPS in GTR 1! There was an software upgrade which corrected the GPS and it work great! It is very accurate comparing to any smartphone.

The GPS is still a big shit. It goes from one side of the road to the buildings of the other side. You can go 3kilometers and finnish the same road with 5.5km!! The HRM is the worst! Below 100ppm goes nice. Running you can go at 190 and marks 140. That level. And what is more. Even the whatch works wrong! Look to the seconds on the whatch. Every 9 secondos one second takes 1.5seconds!!!! This happens to every screen
