I work with a retired airline pilot. He has a 1970 mustang Mach 1 with 1600 miles on it. He bought it and never intended to drive it,he just takes it to car shows. He even has the original factory battery. I asked him how he got the battery to last so long. He says he pours the acid out and replaces it as needed.

Chopper1 , I’m a real car guy. I don’t think it is worth 1/2 million $ for old technology to go vroom, vroom. This stuff has its place in history, maybe Jay Leno’s garage, but come on, the writing is on the wall.

shepherdsknoll8 in all fairness I could be $500,000 off the mark of what someone will pay for it, that is just what I think it would be worth, I don’t know anything about rarity, goes to show,,,lol in the near future I’m gonna get a stingray 68-72 don’t care about originality, as I can’t afford originality, but I want at least 450hp and want it in decent shape.

Garth Clark, the car is proven by many especially the widow of deceased owner to have sat the last 42 years. The last time it was registered was 1975 with only 1010 Miles in PA. PA is the only state it was ever registered. The original Owner also states he only street raced the car the first 2 years and had other means of transportation. The paint, body, interior, weatherstripping, and undercarriage all are unbelievable. The car truly speaks for itself.

Its kind of sad if you think about it. Its a nice car i would love to see cleaned up and driven. I have a 1970 Elcamino which i bought and put a 5.3 LS in it and drive it every day in any kind of weather (except snow). I haul junk to the scrap yard at least once a month i haul 4 wheelers etc. And any time i see something like this i just feel the car wants to be ripped out doing a massive burnout on the street. I hope someone drives it one day.

Patrick Glenn Nichols Musclecar Barn Finds ...... I have one question, You stated that it has a 13637 V.I.N. to my knowledge, a 13637 V.I.N. denoted a Small Block equipped Chevelle, whereas a 13837 V.I.N. denoted a Big Block Chevelle. I have owned 4 different 1970 Chevelle's , including a Documented LS-6 454 ,4 Speed car ( 13837 V.I.N. ) ...a Documented SS (13637 V.I.N. ) that came with the 300 H.P. 350/TH-400, along with a very rare 1968 396/375 hp, 4 speed Concours station wagon. a 1967 SS 396 2dr. ( Heavily modified for drag racing, swapped to a 427 )......a 1968 2dr drag car with a 406 small block, and a documented 1971 SS 2dr. ( 13637 V.I.N. ) small block 350/TH-400 car. Not to mention, a 1972, 307/TH-350 4 door sedan, and a 1972 350/TH-350 pillar less hardtop 4 door as well. So, suffice it to say, I'm pretty knowledgeable about the 64-72 Chevelle's! I just wanted to point out the V.I.N. number question, maybe I missed something along the way, but that's what I always knew . If I'm not correct, then show me, lol. Great video, beautiful Chevelle

No need to put on a front, I speak from experience my friend. I still have a 1977 Impala 4dr. ...that runs high 11s on the motor. I'm 50 years old, and I've owned well over 125 different vehicles since I was 16. I have a rolling total of 5 vehicles. . ALL 5 on the road, up and running, tagged and legal. Plus a 22 ft. Gnrdude, Keep in mind 1092 Miles but it’s still 48 years old which is plenty of time for items to get away from the car when they removed in the first couple of years. Also the original owner who removed these items has no recollection of what he did with these items. He says “that stuff was junk back then nobody wanted manifolds and smog equipment.” I don’t try to locate parts and make cars different from the actual way they were found. My job is to publish and bring you the exact car in its “as found” condition. Thanks for watching.

We had some insane cars back in the day. I was fortunate enough to have driven a brand new SS 454 in blue and white when I was about 18 years old. What an incredible car. It was all stock and had no problem turning the hides into big clouds of white smoke. They were battleships. I believe that if there were more rev limiters more of these beauties might still be around, or there may have been more fatalities do to speeding. You could actually work on these cars yourself. Absolutely amazing cars from the dealership (Muscle cars). Big Big blocks. Big Big carbs. Big Big values. How many of you wish you could go back and buy say 4 cars ? What would they be? Dodge Daytona, tri power vette, mustang fastback,olds 455 HO , Buick GS,AMX ,302 z28, the Judge, and it wouldn’t cost as much as a Dodge Viper. You don’t know what you got until it’s gone.

I think it’s hilarious that the guy that climbs through all the back woods of the nation and rodent infested barns to observe these cars up close is convinced that it’s a valid mileage. But somehow all of these pantloads that are looking at it through their jizz stained cracked iPhone screens somehow think they know more. This guy not only combs all over the nation for these, but carries a passion for this car. If he’s sold, so am I. Love the vids Patrick.

I agree. I too saw marks on the seat , but with just a camera view it could even be dust. Marks don't mean it's stained. Plus it's pretty easy to spot a repainted, even a tear down and repaint, but you have to be there. Nobody commenting the mileage is wrong was there. I always think there are unknown cars out there waiting.

@CORVAIRWILD
@CORVAIRWILD 5 жыл бұрын
I saved many tower clamps back when they were plentiful, and install them on my 60's GM survivor full size cars. Once in a while I find some in an old junkyard. They're easy to save, loosen tower screw, tap down tower with same 3/8 socket. I'm sure they were not saved bcause they look goofy, like a dunce cap. The crappy stainless worm drive clamps are shiny, and everyone uses them, but I always liked the original look of the tower clamps, even 30 years ago. I just found 2 from a 73 El Camino in a junkyard in Greer SC... SCORE! I'll NEVER use the China soft ones! They twist and don't sit properly

Back in about 1985 this local bar I always went to in NW Indiana...was holding a raffle for a 70 454 SS bright red with black stripes.Not sure if it was an LS6 engine.....but it was 4 bolt main 454 with an automatic trans.As soon as 10,000 tickets were sold @ 20 a pop.....the raffle was held.One kid in Crown Point Indiana won with a single ticket.I remember this one guy buying 1 ,000.oo worth of tickets....and he still lost.I bought 5 tickets.Years later it was said the guy holding the raffle for the Chevelle paid only about 17k for the car.Had the whole thing super detailed and sold as I said....every ticket.So that's 200 k minus what he had in it.Well so he made his money and then some.This guy had about 4 other raffles through out the 80s and the 90s.What a way to become a millionaire....because he did eventually.To this day that car is still nice and clean.Same owner.Man that kid was the talk of the county.That is a nice ride you have there.My fave year is the 67 ss.My cousin had a clean 66 back in the late 70s.With the 396/350 hp 4 spd.His was trple black.

Thanks for what you do...your patience with people is amazing, the comments are so easily answered in your details...As far as some of the comments I question why they even bother to admire a time capsule and pick it apart.but that’s the day and age we live in..I’m a Chevy gear head born in 68 and worried there would be no cars when I was of age to drive...,,I’ve owned many original 1 owner cars and was a day two kid. In 1986 I bought a 34k mile 74 Z/28 all original and didn’t day 2 it but did unhook the speedo cable.. for obvious reasons ,,it now registers 70k .. and has many day 2 mods to my likings,,,and when I’m dead and gone it will still be the car I wanted it to be...all numbers match drive train wise..and appearance wise ..even the stupid tower clamps..holding hoses on a winters intake and quad carb again my car since 86 ,,with a set of slicks it would run a 13.88 consistently with the stock 350/245 hp motor (no smog) ..again my car my choice it’s been parked and not licensed since 90ish ok point is it all original paint stickers shocks deep grove pulley blah blah blah .but I made the decision to drive it and enjoy it but keep it as close to og as I 16 year old could....so if that Chevrolet Chevelle could speak..it would not be as patient as your are,!,, u do a damn good job and the passion shows..keep on finding the cars ..that was the first I heard of the plastic inner fender wells ...I had a 71 but was a Norwood car I believe... .Im glad the owner used the car and enjoyed it...rare rare find ..thanks

See a lot of comments, questioning the authenticity of this car, due to some mods. Not unusual for a car that was raced during most of those miles. I had a neighbor back in 1969, (2 brothers) that both bought brand new Super Bee's and never put them on the road. They went thru hi-pro mods and ONLY saw the drag strip for several years before they were sold (not street legal). A racer, goes thru a lot of hell and sees a lot of repairs and mods. Things break almost every week. I see no reason to question the authenticity, by what you see and hear in this video. Would like to have heard it run.

Amazing that GM would allow different plants to do different things with the same car especially the inner fenders. That’s crazy. 1,092 miles and two owners is rare. So did you get it?

For 1092 miles there are alot of modifications under the hood...plug wires, hoses, clamps etc, etc. You'd think with those miles some of these things would not have been touch...

Certainly possible it was raced and that's where most of the miles came from.

Sorry dude the car is absolutely a documented 1092 mile car.. This car was parked 1975 for good and only used for racing by the original owner. It was inspected by the state of PA in 1976 with only 1010 Miles. So unless it was driven illegally for over 100k Miles it’s definitely real.

Patrick Glenn Nichols Musclecar Barn Finds I had a neighbor that had a similar 71 Chevelle SS454 4spd car that he painted black w/gold stripes. As I remember it his odometer read around 2600 miles because of a busted speedo cable. This could be another example of a guy that simply was more interested in what the tach read.

Bcdhihi absolutely not. The car is proven and known to have been stored it’s entire life. It also was only registered in PA it’s entire life. Example :therefore a car can’t have say 20k Miles under a particular year’s inspection and then turn around and only have 1092 miles later on it doesn’t fly. Therefore the car was registered and proven to have less than 1092 Miles in each of the years prior to its last registered year which was 1975.

Hey Patrick, I used to own a highly documented (2 build sheets, protecto plate, window sticker, signed affidavit from original owner, dealer invoice, original photos, etc, etc) LS6, black, white stripes and a parchment interior (but buckets, no console). It is now a well known car that was restored by Rick Nelson.I just stumbled on your videos and left you a message yesterday. I just found a semi barn find of my own a 70 L34 car. I left you a phone message yesterday, thought you might be interested to video it if you ever end up in the Socal area. Thanks for the great videos!

He told you, the guy bought it and raced it. It's really not all that unbelievable that this is the actual mileage on the car. 1/8-1/4 mile at a time. I really don't get all these comments "oh, that can't be actual mileage, too many mods, blah, blah, blah. The car, imo, is exactly what it is advertised to be. Great find, man!

Beautiful car! But seems weird that, not one, but 2 previous owners, and the car only has 1000 miles on it... The orig owner changed alot of parts, and even had it to a body shop for the gold stripes, not to drive it! He must have owned a flatbed, and drove that around with the car strapped to it... Sounds very similar to a family friend of ours that bought a new Oldsmobile in 1968. He was so anal about the car staying new, that he took it to a local mechanic and had the speedo cable undone months after buying the car. He owned the car for about 15 yrs, and had the mechanic show him how to do it himself, that way if he needed to have the car in for warrantee work, he would hook it back up before going there, and drive for a couple days before undoing it again. Seems pretty cool when you own the car, but sad for the next guy who's buying a low mileage car...

Day 2 disconnect the Odometer, day 3 off to the beach in Florida. 2016, hook up the odometer. As a person that owes an old car from new, its not as hard as you think to keep them looking like new. Especially, if you're married and owe the same house with heated garage for 50 years. It was very common to disconnect the odometer back in the day. The main thing is, you believe the salesman's story, so everyone's happy.

I’m thinking the same, or it was predominantly a drag car. The headers and fly eye air cleaner at least shows that the previous owner was looking for more power.
