Just watched all the videos of this restoration. I have the exact same bike sitting in my office and have been pondering the idea of doing a restoration/rebuild. The idea of giving it a new paint job looks intriguing by the result of yours. It came out beautifully. I believe mine is 1985? It’s a light blue nouvu sport, in really great condition. Ive got a campagnolo record group set from an old take off that I’m thinking of setting up for the rebuild. Thanks for the inspiration and getting the ideas cranking in the head!

Beautiful build.....You may have installed the brake pads backwards, because the small screw that retains the replaceable pads should be on the aft side and not be what holds the pads in from the force of the rim moving forward. I have Ultegra on my road bike, once you set the pads, you can just remove the pads only by removing the small retainer screw, and sliding them out. The fronts were correct

Nice bike and enthusiastic build, love the choice of brown saddle and bar tape (wrapped inside to out - kudos). Just always get your headset press tool set up central and square to the head tube first or you may either distort or shave the inside diameter as the cup goes in skewed. A little extra time spent here can save creating a future loose headset.

Gorgeous restoration, I had this very same old pre-Ultegra, pre-HG 6 spd Groupset that I had (if that's what it is) back in the v early 90's, I bought it 2nd hand, upgraded the bearings & rims (BB, H/set, Hubs & pedals) to Campagnolo/ Mavic, the wheels that it came with were not original anyhow and were a bit crap TBH, Brought back some nice memories watching this, I already have a retro 1991 MTB which I have put a lot of love & time into, 1990 was an excellent year, 7-speed HG, I still have my 34-year Deore II Thumbies that still work impeccably! matched with mainly a Deore LX groupset (1st one, it was Mountain LX before) which I overhauled completely, Pace Renthal bars, Marin barends (want some Onzas) a really nice condition vintage Rolls saddle, & I STILL USE IT loads! never let me down, but I would love an old road bike

However I do really like the new design of the flat pedals, and I've got modern Maxxis tires and new chain, cables etc but the rest is all early 1990s,& some 1980s Thumbshifters (v wise decision) instead of the Deore LX under-shifters that were awful IMO, the DX/ XT ones are the ones I had issues with, I gave up in the end like so many of us did and went back to 7 SPD thumbies (which go to 8 spd if you did not know)

👏 Great series on vintage bike restoration. You nailed it spot on. Every step fully documented and sharp video image quality. Nice tone of voice and easy soft music tunes in the background. Could use some variation though. Final result: Such a great looking retro bike you made! You motivate me to start restoring my old Batavus Sprint retro ladies bike, which I use for shopping groceries. I even plan to do my Stevens 900 Strada Blacktop fitness bike next. Cheers !

@@RunBikeMike It's not an issue if it looks ok to you, it's only aesthetics. I've watched loads of bar wrapping videos on youtube and I'm still really rubbish at wrapping my own handlebars however the best one which I'd recommend you watch is Calvin Jones's park tool one. On second thoughts I'll give you 9.5 out of 10 as it's not really a big deal.
