Please don’t waste an hour of your life proving to the numb nuts that question your honesty. Your videos are the best by far. You don’t make me feel queasy with over head footage whilst digging a hole. You know what you are talking about and your finds reflect the part of the country you live in. I love the way your videos are presented. You give really clear, repeated views of what you find, and excellent, educational information about the time period they are from, what they were used for, and often show similar finds from your collection for comparison. I feel very engaged, both by the way you present your finds and your obvious excitement about the hobby and the history they reveal. I do think showing the handful of less interesting “junk” you also found that day (like you did in this video) might go a long way to quieting the doubters. I also found it fascinating and would have loved a slightly longer peak at it all. My biggest pet peeve about some of the metal detecting videos is that they barely show you what they find at all, or describe it, or say much about it other than some crowing and back slapping with their friends. I think your videos are fabulous. You invite your audience in and share with us. I never think you are talking too long. Thank you for all that I have learned from you.

Yes it is thankyou. I'd also like to say that the format of all your videos is absolutely perfect. You mix it up, you explain everything thoroughly. I honestly only watch your detecting channel ..no offense to every other channel out there, I know they all work hard to deliver content, but once you've seen them dig up coin after coin after coin after coin and heard them tell you the same thing over again , I doze off. Always love your vids! Pinfire shotgun shell invented 1835 was popular in England for short period in 1850's. Was not used for long 5 years then better things came around. Like the return to HQ for discussion of discoveries. Keep vids as they are- EXCELLENT! Cheers from Florida

Sorry to hear of your poor experience with your FLO re the silver thimble. I’m a great believer in recording finds through PAS and have become a self recorder to avoid loss. It has always concerned me that your wonderful finds appear to go unrecorded but fully understand why. Keep on finding these lovely objects. Good luck and cheers for now.

Hi Alex. Would you consider taking a few minutes to show your settings for the Deus Lite before you search the fields? Just bought the same machine (after watching your videos!) would love to know your go-to settings you have for doing the fields (maybe showing exactly what you are inputting into the controls). Thanks Paul - I generally use the same settings for everything… I'm so used to what information it gets me I don't need to change often… it's the hot program with reactivity lowered to 2.5 and then keep your ears open for those tiny little squeaky whispers without any iron buzz at all - that's what you want to be digging! I've found loads of those shotties with the pin - whoever told you they are 'rare' was pulling your chain 🤣 I'd watch a video of you detecting for an hour. I don't go as fast as you with my Deus I, but I do discriminate signals rather than digging everything - on the 'dreaded' screen I ignore anything under 40 (those who use the control box will understand) as it's always hot rocks or poor-quality foil, and of course I don't dig the iron. I also ignore some scratchy little signals if the line on the X-Y screen is jumping around the centre spot as that's pretty much always screws and nails. Personally I don't find the screen a distraction from my thoughts - for me, the tone in my ear is simply matched with the info on the screen - the X-Y screen line, the number and the tone are a formula that gives you a big clue as to whether you should dig a target, and what it might be. I use the 11" coil on 18KHz and the hot programme. I don't think I'm missing much that's in the first few inches of soil, but who knows! After three years of detecting with the same machine, I feel pretty zoned-in with it. I know some detectorists get a bit obsessed with kit, buying loads of detectors and chopping and changing between them - I don't personally think this is a good idea. You get one that you match with very well and stick to it, perhaps only changing every few years when technology moves on so far that it makes sense to do so.

Probably not that rare, no! But they werent around a long I think I am right in thinking about five years between 1830 and 1835… And I found a lot more hammered coins and Roman coins than I have found those cartridges…! Ending on a beautiful William silver. A pretty good day sounds like. I love crotel bells and thimbles. Artefacts are such a part of every day life. And how long do you think that slipper will last. What will Tasci do? Do you have slippers in reserve? LOL And btw....you will love that little poking tool when you finally remember to take it. You could have cleaned out the thimbles easily.

I use an SDC2300 Pulse induction detector for relic detecting, sane senario i dont even need to concentrate on anything anymore just swing slowly and wait for the right tone and size target etc, i feel like i get MUCH more info on a target from the tone of a pulse induction machine than any vhf detector would ever give me

P.S. whilst you absolutely do not need to pamper to those who doubt what you find a video that lets people hear what you dig or don’t dig would be invaluable to other Deus Lite users. A friend of mine is struggling a bit with hers and I can try and explain what to dig but to hear it would be so helpful. Maybe one for the other channel?

Another great vid Alex. What've you got against thimbles? They're cute. And, what's up with your FLO? They expect you to turn in certain finds, but can't be bothered to assess them in a timely manner? Sounds a little suss. Serve them right if you held back any future finds until they return the old ones. And, live digs? I'm perfectly happy with your format as is. Love HQ. There will always be critics & cynics. I'm rambling here, so I'll just say thanks again for the vid.

Don't pay attention to the haters Alex. I wish you could post videos more. You and the Scottish detectorist are my favorites. Mostly because of the broad range of finds and the history lessons. Keep with it. Find that great big roman gold. Then they can really turn green..it's bound to happen.

@@HolzHammerSagas it’s so silly If it was a quicker process people would do it with no qualms. I did hear the pas are going to start accepting pictures. You’d think in this day and age they’d have an app where you upload a photo and have guidelines to put in dimensions and a brief description etc. then if they would like to see the object they can contact the finder.

Make out a list of things that might impress the farmer, like if you find any sharp or spikey items that might puncture his tyre's or Injure an animal's leg you'll take them out . Tell him you'll watch out for water leaks and you have the way of finding them, also use disinfectant on your wellies before and after you go on his land! and if you find 50 thousands gold coins ye can split down the middle 60/40😅.

Your channel in my opinion is the only one worth watching especially with research and history. Any starter in the hobby should watch your channel. I en joy them all and for the dumb nuts who allege that rubbish are just jealous a sickness of the mind. Don't let them get you down
