We recently visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu Temple in Chino Hills, CA, just 45 minutes east of Los Angeles and we were absolutely blown away! This Hindu Temple has some of the most amazing architecture in the world. The details on this building are stunning. If you live in LA, Inland Empire, Riverside, Orange County, San Bernardino, or just visiting from out of town, you should definitely go check this out! We promise, it's worth the drive!

This is Nagara style Architecture mostly practiced in Northern India for thousands of years. There are 3 major stone Temple architecture in India; Nagara (Northern India) Dravida (Southern India) Vesara (mix of Nagara and Dravida) All these forms use only stones which are assembled like a jigsaw puzzle, as stones have much larger lifespan they stay as it is for thousands of years. Hindu sages and yogis wrote everything down in the scriptures on how to build temples etc so the art still exists as it was before. Obviously the current generation is not skilled enough to build like our ancestors did (eg, Kailasha Temple, Hosaleswara Temple etc) they still do impressive work also with the integration of modern tools.

It's quite nice, but pales in comparison to the Hindu Temple that just opened in Robbinsville, NJ, the biggest in the world after Ankor Watt.

The largest temple complex is Srirangam Ranganathswamy and not Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat was originally built for the Hindus but has been converted to Buddhism.

It took 12 years because initially city council was not giving permission. Then they gave it for only 42 feet height and after many years they gave permission for this main 75 feet height, otherwise it could be completed under 5 years. Also it is in earthquake zone, so isolator technology used to prevent any damage to temple by earthquake.
