Apus Hotel, Nha Trang. For a lovely room with a balcony with a view of the sea. Plus buffet breakfast and rooftop pool and exercise equipment I was paying 430k dong which is under £15 or just over $18. Look at the state of this place. Unbelievable. I’ve just checked the price a month later on Booking.com and it’s three quid cheaper. That’s £12 or $15. An absolute bargain! Where in the world can you find a deal as good as this?
I’ve visited Nha Trang once before in 2004. It was already a Russian occupation back then, but has recently developed into a popular destination for international tourists due to its popular beaches and scuba diving and has attracted large numbers of backpackers, as well as more affluent travelers on the south-east Asia circuit; it is already very popular with Vietnamese tourists, with Nha Trang Bay chosen by Travel + Leisure in two succeeding years as one of 29 most beautiful bays in the world.
I was interested in seeing how the city was today and compare it to Da Nang which I’ve visited twice over the past 5 years. Especially as both are beach cities which are my ideal places to live. Nha Trang measures 12.87 square kilometer and according to the 2019 census had a population of 422,601, growing at a rate of 2% per year. In 1950, the population of Nha Trang was 33,924.
With a lengthy dry season from January to August and a shorter wet season from September to December, when 41 in of the city's total annual rainfall of about 51 in is received from the north-east monsoon. During the wet season extremely heavy rainfall from typhoons is not uncommon, though the city is pretty shielded on all three sides by mountains and a large island on the fourth side directly in front, which block major storms from potentially damaging the city.

@@BiggWorldCinema Here in the US, we used to have a chain restaurant called "Shoneys", best breakfast buffet, Eggs, Bacon, Ham, Potatoes, Rolls and Toast, all you could eat. But the small town I grew up in had a Barbecue buffet place called Underwood's. BBQ ribs where the meat literally fell off the bone, so tender, beef steak was the same way. All the veggies and hot rolls you could eat. Damn, I'm making myself hungry! Thanks for asking, my friend!

Thank you for showing us this gem of a hotel. I mostly hang out in the Philippines (going again next week) but I want to see Vietnam in the near future. I can't recall if you said how you got there but I am presuming you flew there from the Philippines? If so what airport and airline did you fly with and into and then did you take a train to the hotel?

It's a good bargain to live in Vietnam now .There are so many things to see and to do in Nha Trang like visiting the beautiful islands in the bay of NT , the old temples/pagodas , the mud and hot spring water baths , the Aquarium , the Vinpearl theme park , the surrounding mountains , forests and waterfalls or enjoying the scuba diving and many more activities .

Zero interest in going to Vietnam but your lodgings are swellegant...a guy could live there? A big handicap might be the language which leads to a feeling of isolation. I experienced that sense of loss in Thailand and after 6 months, I got the hell out of there.

I can understand that. After awhile you need decent human interaction which is lacking in Thailand with the locals, but I do love Vietnam and maybe stay longer on a tourist visa - which they're debating next month.

Good on ya …very common mistake with the dumbbell pullover, it’s for developing the rib cage and the serratus …it’s more like a stretching muscle. Do it hanging over bench …qualified pt and ex karate instructor…look on line ..all the best.

@@BiggWorldCinema Peoples don’t like being told they are doing things incorrectly, it’s a stretching exercise fundamentally..so ya get more stretch off the bench. Not so good for your back on the bench too. Keep it going 👍

Another interesting vlog. I see you use Starling. Does it help you avoid the ATM fees (the ATM's local fee) which are extortionate in Philippines and in SE Asia generally?
@BiggWorldCinema
@BiggWorldCinema Жыл бұрын
I don't think you can avoid paying local fees at ATMs in Vietnam. When I withdraw money an extra fee is added at all banks. Which is not the case using HSBC banks in the Phils where the fee is waived at both ends. I think!
