We then head over to Visiontech to check out their amazing Horizon Roofs pop top for their awesome ID.Buzz, and then stop off to charge at the UK's first all electric forecourt.

Wellll... it's "almost" clean energy. The Solar cells, plastic and rubber parts are all either mined or made with oil in other countries, then transported with HUGE ships and Trains which do use petrol. Gotta go past just the chargers themselves. :) Loved the video as always

I don't get all the naysayers saying the Buzz is too small, it looks pretty similar to the Mazda bongo and I camped in mine for over a decade with no problems. The Vellfire is a similar size too. Nice and easy to park everywhere!

Absolutely, thank you. We know many people with small vans like this that have had many years of camping and making memories. Also this is an addition to our larger motorhome for occasional camping, so we think it’s the perfect size for us to have as a second car and a small Campervan when needed.

I would definitely have the Audi R3 but you can keep the Buzz. I don't like pop tops on any van. Just remember if it's windy it'll be unbelievably noisy when it's up not to mention the condensation and cold! Personally, I think their usage is very weather dependent. No matter how enthusiastic you try to sound, you'll never convince me one of these vans are a good idea but good luck to you and I hope it all goes well.

There are many negatives to pop tops but also plenty of positives too , all depends on how you use your van . Could say the same for caravans vs motorhomes , they both have their pros and cons . Personally I think if you need a vehicle with a small footprint it's perfect , I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it ...

The charging station at Braintree is a start and many thousands of these will be needed across the country with easy access to them. Futuristic. These will need to be available within the next 3-5 years. Where is the electricity going to come from - nuclear but Hinckley point C won’t be commissioned till 2028?

You talk about your tight payload and the better option of fibre glass and yet the pop top uses high quality steel in manufacture .. how much of your payload will it take up? We tried a VW camper before opting for our little tardis .. an auto sleeper Nuevo. Bathroom .. loo .. shower .. full oven .. microwave .. large double bed .. satellite and router. All fits in a regular parking space. Sorry .. really can’t get enthusiastic about this project but it will certainly provide a lot of discussion on your channel. Can you post the cutout of the roof weight v the pop top total weight. it looks very small and hard to use. the t5 looks such a better useable option

A couple of questions. I thought you bought the buzz to turn into a camper, I didn't know you got it as a work van I think ev cars have their place,but why do you think ev stations are going to be the future? Could you tell us how much it cost at Braintree to charge the buzz and what range did you get. It will be interesting to see it being used as a camper. As a van I'm shocked at the weight limit.

We’d originally bought it for work and was going to get a LWB one to convert, but as it can’t easily fit and 8x4 sheet in the back and the LWB is a while off being released in the UK yet we decided to stick with the order and convert it to a campervan and 2nd family car. Braintree cost 49p per kw for fast charging and 69p per kw for rapid charging. We didn’t keep tabs on the miles per kWh on this trip but I did mention at the end of our last video that I managed 250 miles per charge with the miles covered and miles remaining. And yes, having had electric cars now for almost 9 years, I absolutely believe that EV charging stations are going to be the future, they’re already here as many more have been opening up since this one.

Love the video, though sceptical about the 100% solar claim for the 36 charging points. That is a hell of a lot of power needed. Also there must be diesel or gas powered back up for the non sunny days?

I think the fact that the big van converters have swerved this one speaks for itself. If all their experience combined doesn’t tell you everything you need to know then good luck. Maybe spend the flash wheels money on a tow bar to carry everything you can’t fit in under the payload? That’s if it does even have a plated GTW. Then you can put out a video on getting the charging lead to reach in the motorway services whilst towing a trailer or caravan. Will do wonders for the algorithms and you may get to the target 100k viewers. Please don’t labels us EV haters because we’re not we’re just being practical. We had a fully electric golf in 2017 but gave it back after 3 months. I’m all for electric vans but hydrogen fuel cell is the only long-term practical way forward. Which is why you still drive a diesel motorhome yourself.

Happy Birthday Eddie. Another good video and such nice cars at Richter down in Bletchley. When you said the Buzz was too small for work, I think you hit the nail on the head, it's just too small. Good luck making this work, but think the content this will provide will be the best part,. If you are honest with yourselves, I think you'll ultimately not be overly happy spending all that money and using it as a compact camper, and that's without the EV infrastructure nightmare element!!

Love the buzz concept keep going...and I Ioved your optimism about EVs and charging .. but even that charging forecourt struggles in the week at peak times, as a regular traveller there and now even the Tesla units are available since the franchise was sold. I do about 4,500 miles a week around the Uk in my polestar and love it, but charging can be a nightmare. A swell in cars but not infrastructure. It will come in time, but most coastal places I would want to take the buzz just don't have the points yet. This alls sounds Grimm but I'm a big fan and definitely know it's the future and will keep the faith. Also With LPG going in 2024 forecourts will have room for mitre charging points. keep Roaming. Thanks for your comment Mike, and with you driving 4,500 miles per week, you’re probably more experienced than us with electric car charging as even though we’ve had EV’s for 9 years now, we’ve been spoilt with mainly using Tesla Superchargers for over 8 years. We understand the existing infrastructure can be put under strain during peak times and we hope to be able to show that too when out and about in the van making videos.

I love my reversing camera, Steve. I got a duel camera system fitted. One is a permenant rear view camera and the other purely reverse both of which feed into the van ICE head. It was the best money I ever spent and helped me avoid a few prangs in carpark. I like you, had mine fitted by the experts. I just didnt trust myself with cameras. @@RoamingRadfords Indeed, I found the same. Both my rear cameras have little circles of infra red leds round them. I must admit though, when I got Viv there was no rear view mirror there- just a solid bulkhead. I had the electronic rear view mirrow and cameras fitted and then decided to remove the bulkhead just before the conversion. It was the right thing really as once the bits went into Viv, and with the tailgate window being very dark tinted I wouldnt have been able to see through the back normally.

They’ve fitted many of them in Transporters and the build quality is solid so I’d think they’d be fine in most weather situations but we’d probably not be popping it up in strong winds anyway

In answer to the Krispy Kreme doughnut Lindsay - mine is the chocolate mint one - they bought it in for a few weeks and then I never saw it again ! As for the Horizon pop top with how tall it is when up i would be concerned in weather with a lot of wind as it could get damaged x

My neighbour gave her Audi Quattro to her youngest son around 10 years ago when he was 40 and he still drives it today. It has a registration plate with the E so the year was 1987 And it’s in top quality

It’s really annoying what VW is doing there. A lot of IDs had issues with the Software updates because of reversing cameras/ tow bars that were not factory fitted (but original VW). I don’t understand why the camera and the speakers are ‘protected’ but safety critical things (like travel assist, high beam control) can be programmed by anyone.

If only all electric car charging was so easy. This is what needs to be done countrywide to get people to adopt electric cars. As a Tesla driver for the past 4 years I have used many supercharges without problem. But the rest of the network needs a lot of work on reliability. Don't think we will be ready by 2035. Looking forward to seeing the Buzz be transformed. bet you the kids end up using it more than you two.

Carbon neutral. Do je a favour. Half that van is made of plastic .the glasses you wear,the phone and camera you use and most of the parts for the so called charging station are all made of plastic inc the advertising signs that abound the station. Time to wake up
