Dear all The stone slabs appear very thin for the material that is then put on top of it to form the roof. I would not recommend the solution as constructed. However, the stone slabs, if tested, may then be used as permanent shutter to put reinforced cast insitu concrete slab above them. If reinforced concrete slab of at least 120mm with adequate reinforcement is used, and the steel beams are capable of carrying the roof loads, then the solution would be good for areas that are not subject to earthquake loads. for the earthquake zone, construction of the roof, specially where steel beams are sat on the walls below, require good attention to design and detail, to ensure that earthquake load does not dislodge the steel beams and cause the roof to collapse. Good to see old technology still in use! This is a version of "Madras Terracing" method of roofing. Originally, this would make the roof about 30cm thickness. The bricks absorb water and keep the room cool in summer. Good job from skilled workman!!

sim um pedra calcarios no brasil usa na calcadas , pode ser feitos de acabament de gesso , pois ha pedras lapidacao nao vai sair baratos . Tambem na india voce pode usar um blocos de tijoilos junta com arames tambem feito via pesquisa de innovacao pois nao tem dolar , cadabum faz seu jeitos , nao tem crea para atrabalhar , Se casa cair , o problema de donos , nao de gov

This roof may be OK for Rajastan where there is very little rain. But not suitable for areas where there are lots of rain. Flat roof will leak and eventually collapse.

loaded with layers of brital materials with no structural bonding and low tolerance to movement over steel rafters it is a labour intensive, not safe and most likely not cost effective method.

@@javya2415 they should ve used bricks to make arch between steel rafters and make sand cement mix layer on top to achieve level surface before applying type of waterproofing memberance, asphalt, tar, etc.

@@1ico007 In short 'Jack Arc Floor' ! However it requires skilled manpower to set arches along each small span in between two steel girders. Moreover, there is an issue of using locally available stone slabs probably Cota stone.

looks like the kota stones and country red bricks are very locally available materials but then the heavy iron rafters are costly...any how it looks cost effective cos there is no centering involved,no steel \barbending involved there is no concrete involved and all of their work could be done so quickly with very little unskilled labour..(forget the earthquake..that's destiny..) kota stone approx rs 50 \ sft ..each shone is of 2ft x 2 ft = 4 sft..( rs 200 per stone ) each brick should be costing rs 6 each if it is locally made..steel beams are by weight i think...unskilled labour ( no engineer\ no big masons\ no concrete mixing machine\ aggregate are needed ...looks cool fast and brilliant..

Une dalle comme ça , sans béton armé , j'ai un grand doute quant à sa solidité surtout s'il s'agit d'une zone sismique sans compter des problèmes d'étanchéité certains car il s'agit d'un secteur ou la pluviométrie est assez apreciable au regard de la végétation .

Locally available and culturally(regionally) acceptable.... Architecture is different at different places.. Rajasthan n Kashmir... Brick walls are not plastered.... N similarly different patterns at different places
