I tried it last year for a month, personally I much prefer watching the live feed as You cant see when a horse is getting niggled or pushed along while others are still travelling smoothly for instance .

Thanks for more great content Peter. Thinking about this feed from an in play perspective, is there an unseated/fallen attribute returned in the Tpd data that is exposed in betangel?

If you watch the jumps racing on TPD, you can see the speed drop dramatically in relation to the other runners when a horse clips a fence and even more so when it falls. TPD switch off the transponder manually when a horse is out of the race. But speed is where you will pick up data around stumbles or falls.

Good video I tried this many months ago and the technology was excellent but my concern was two fold. 1). You will lose the edge trading in the long term as everyone will be using this technology. 2). Lack of control is my major concern you can develop trading strategies around the framework what happens if this technology disappears for financial or governing bodies remove it or other reasons. If you are not in control the risk is always present and that is a major player for me. I used to like Betfair multiples and that was removed with no explanantion but I think it was clear. I will keep to horse form reading as no one can take this away from me. Keep up the good work. Mark

Thanks for the reply there is some truth in your reply however if you rely on too many external components which are out of your control you normally get caught in the end. I had this problem with my online retail businesses purchasing wholesale I had no control. In business if you break the rule of control like I said you are taking a big risk. Thanks Mark

I use TPD to trade automatically, so there isn't much to show on a video. But I can talk more about it's usage. Core to that is you now have a description of how a race is run, that's key to understanding how is and isn't going to win it.

This is primarily in period before the start of the race from the stables. They tend to go to post carefully so they can stretch a bit then and get warmed up.

Betfair restricts our ability to offer the software anywhere other than places that allow you to open an account on Betfair.com. So ultimately you have to open an account there to be able to use Bet Angel.

It's a shame it only works with Sky Racing tracks and not Racing TV. Plus the data can't see what the jockey is doing, or a saddle slip etc. Great start though. Hope they improve on it.

I'm new to trading and can seen this is an expensive piece of kit. However in the long run I could see where this could be useful, especially in certain techniques where you Dutch 2/3 runners and have an auto cash out set, if that doesn't trigger you usually sit and just accept the losses whereas with real live imaging you could get out a little earlier and cut your losses if its obvious your horse is nowhere to be seen.

You can use Bet Angel to get data and push it to the real-time tracking map. That's a significant enhancement here.

I've used TPD Data and its not really that good. Its just generic data that can be viewed in several ways. Using TPD and gambling on Horse Racing is the quickest way of smashing your account to little bits. Try it but I guarentee you will lose money using it. The delay between the video feed and TPD is minimal and the Betfair IR delay for placing bets is more significant.

I use the data to model inplay racing, so I'm very confident now about using the data to predict horses that will or won't be in contention later in the race.

There are some commercial companies that provide 'live' data, but it's very sketchy and not available to the public. Unless you have seen something I haven't? There are some great analytical tools being made available to clubs now, but they are way off the radar of cost for anything other that top level football clubs.

@@betangeltv @Bet Angel No no, when I saw TPD, I thought how and could it be implemented in football and other sports, but I dont see it happening, atleast in similar way, just for now. The techonoly from TPD could be used, but it would need much more software or manual work, maybe some AI. 🙂 And those tools? Where can I check them? Interested to see how it works. Maybe a good service to provide to the clubs, its not a saturated market I presume.

You have to pay for the feed from TPD, but it's pennies a race when you sign up for a enough races.

I looked at this last year through Bet Mover and was largely unimpressed, in fact I bought a month’s subscription and only bothered using it for about 2 days. I have a number of reservations but I’ll keep them to myself and let people make their own minds up, but a sincere question- why is it if this data is so good do my profits from ATR look remarkably similar to those from RTV tracks? One would have thought they would be significantly less given this data is only available on ATR courses. I also wonder the intent of the whole operation, IR on horses is dying a death, this is just another expense for the user that for one reason or another could be finished within a year or two- why would a company invest in such a product with a dying market?

The technology was implemented for racecourses and media; it wasn't implemented for in-play traders. All that's happened here is we helped TPD bring it to that market. I do think people are misusing it, it seems people are looking at it too simplistically. A one-dimensional approach. I was really keen to get hold of the data as it's helped me significantly with what I do. But I didn't have a clue that people wouldn't see it the same way. I think that's the most interesting thing about it.

@@betangeltv thanks. Well I’m from the other side I suppose, I’ve been a Gruss user since day one. I spent a month reviewing your product last year and I can see why people choose it and if I were to use the GPS I’d probably use your version, but I have a method that works and as they say if it ain’t broke…. I obviously got details of your latest update as a result of looking at your product, one other specific question I have regarding the ‘historic’ data used to gauge things like horse speed in your example. Is that available independently or do you only get what they want you to know via the using of the product? I wouldn’t want them spoon feeding me data, I’d want to analyse it myself.

They don't publish it in full, just the average of it. So that's helpful, but not what you looking for. I tend to gather my own data directly from Bet Angel, so use it that way. I'm always interested in what happens and how it's different from other races as that gives me valuable insight. It's quite easy to export data on Bet Angel.

It's been the core of everything I've done over the last twenty years. Gather data, model it, and then use it in the market. It's never failed me.

I tried this for a month. Frustrating to say the least. It lag so much that it became unreliable. Having said that I live in Australia so not sure if the distance has something to do with it. In any case I cancelled the subscription after a month.

The data arrives from the racecourse in a few hundred milliseconds. But if you are in Australia it has to travel 10,500 miles to you. So that will take a bit of time unless they can find a way around the speed of light. If you run it on a VPS in the UK you will see a better representation of the data. You may want to try a VPS: - www.betangel.com/vps/ You will still get a slight lag on a screen update, but the visualisation will be better as it updates locally before transmission of the screen image.

Since we introduced this data, I've been doing a lot of in-play stuff. The problem I previously had is that I couldn't quantify what I was doing and that was a problem for me. Now I can, it's all hands on deck. It's made a huge difference to me.

Friendly advice. Whoever is doing the production work on these is over enthusiastic about the visual and audio sound effects. You should really tone it down, its quite annoying . The information is interesting enough without the constant whooshing sounds and 180 camera twirls.

I don't know how long you have doing in-play, but it's very seasonal. So you may find you are just seeing that right now.

You're right though, it can be seasonal, and can fluctuate wildly day-to-day, sometimes different days, but my hunch is (for me and my strategies anyway) things are changing. Some of it got tougher when drones starting flying over some UK racecourses, but without giving much away there are some tracks where there is/are people miles ahead of me now. It might be a complete coincidence, but the drones I don't think was. There is one track which I used to love but now I might as well not be playing at all. I know you've got to use every tool at your disposal, and nobody has any right to anything over the markets, but there are some tools which have become akin to an arms race; fast streams, racecourse boxes, drones, now this.

Markets tend to get more efficient over time, so that's not unusual. I've looked at various aspects of the market, and things like drones are helpful for certain things, but I tend to avoid areas where I don't have an advantage in data, pictures or strategy. Long-term profitability is just a case of continuous refinement for me. I never sit still.

@@betangeltv Yes. I know what my advantages are and use them to the best of my ability. Sometimes I'm disastrously wrong, but hey ho. However, at this moment that advantage has been wiped out by my disadvantages elsewhere and I'm not going to chase money at wrong prices. As you say, not sitting still is also key, and if this continues I'll have to find something else.

They are added in the weighing in room when the saddlecloths are prepared. So it's improbable and would be more of an issue examined by the stewards.

@@betangeltv mistakes do happen though Peter, for instance in a big 25 runner handicap a mistake could happen. If a tracker is wrong you could be backing or laying it for whatever reason and it would be the wrong horse.

@@betangeltv and it doeant matter if its examined by the stewards afterwards because the race would be over and you could be looking at a huge loss. There is another guy on youtube who does videos in play with tpd and there are some issues/glitches with it still. For the money they want for this data i wont be going anywhere near it til the software can be trusted 100%

TPD now use two transponders in each saddlecloth. So the chance of an error is way lower than the first version. You can't trust anything 100%, even Betfair. So it's a null argument to say you won't do anything unless you can be 100% sure. Trading is all about taking risk, not avoiding it.

@@betangeltv no peter i disagree, the money it costs the user, it has to function as promised. Ive seen the software and a runner will do crazy things according to the gps such as going into the betting ring and bouncing back in to its position. You cant say it doesnt have glitches and shrug shoulders as though these things arent costly to users who are trusting the data and placing bets on the basis of the gps. Ive seen it so i know it happens.
