Faran Ensemble is a three player group, who joined each other in a
spiritual quest, expressed in music and sounds.
It has been years now that these players have deeply engaged themselves in studying the musical instruments and the theory of music with the best teachers in the country and abroad.
The instruments played originate from esoteric and ancient traditions of the East.
KAMANTCHE is an ancient musical instrument whose origins are
rooted in Azerbaijan.
OUD, one of the most ancient string instruments, is found anywhere it is customary to have very strong and dark tea in a small cup.
The Percussion which have been in use since the first human heartbeat.
The ensemble members grew up and come from different places,
backgrounds and sceneries.
From the very dry desert to the luscious green through the hectic noisy city sounds. The composed works reflect all of
these as they were composed together by the four ensemble members.
Both the composition-works and the musicians are deeply influenced by the Eastern musical system called 'Maqam' .
Maqam in translation means all at once a physical place in the musical scale, the fingers' placing on the strings and the melody which expresses this. But more than that, 'Maqam' refers to a meditative place. A state that the player must be attended so the music will be played as it should be.
In ancient cultures each Maqam has its own particular hour in the day, season and a specific ceremonial connection.
Faran, is a dry desert wadi, which fills with water and life only in rainy winters; and in the hot season, otherwise silent.
It crosses Israel on its way from Sinai, ignoring all borders.
Music for us is a journey.
Join us..

Discussions about politics, religions, borders, etc can divide us. But music is a good way to unite our hearts.

@@hneemann Not necessarily. The history and social history of a music style or instrument, its travels through time and place, are fascinating and interesting, they helped shape it the way it is now. Nothing grows in a void, we all grow within the culture we were born from, even if we are open to influences by other cultures. Lack of borders, acceptance of others, tolerance and friendship, artistic collaborations and fusion doesn't mean you have to make everyone the same, and lose our roots, because our roots are part of who we are.

I love the fact that they’re being filmed in the middle of nowhere. It makes it seem as though the music exists outside of the bounds of our material world, apart from the tragedy and suffering of civilization. the sound has such a primordial draw and it always seems like this kind of music coveys so much more passion and human emotion than any other genre. And it carries such an overwhelming feeling of peace and serenity, it overwhelms my senses but yet I am in a complete calm. Truly beautiful.

Eugene Karaoglu now say this to the us army .if they don't need mideast oil they wouldn't invade it With what westerners will grow their food ? Singing to their plants ? Of course they need oil at least to make their machines work for harvest and other things Ask yourself this question . if Arabs can't live without oil how could they live before oil discovery? Agriculture exists in every Arab country and saying that Arabs will die of hunger after the west leaves it is stupid and only serves the western propaganda The west is not saving Mideast from hunger the west IS causing hunger Iraq was main food exporter before the us invasion thanks to oil and the Tigris Euphrates water look at iraq now after the invasion? Syria was a main wheat exporter before the us invasion lebanon north Africa Jordan Palestine and Egypt all of them have agriculture so go spread your western propaganda away

@maskeli fedai Even the instrument name ( kamanche) is persian, how do you say its turkish?
@drangue4733
@drangue4733 6 жыл бұрын
I didn't say it's turkish or azeri, I wanted to say it wascdesigned-constructed by them. We (turks) don't use kamancha, we use a similar instrument called gourd kamancha it's a bit different from the azeri kamancha. The kamancha comes from an ancient egypt instrument called rubab. So the roots of the kamancha aren't turkish or azeri neither persian. But the kamancha or kamanche that is used nowadays (the one in the video) is designed-constructed by azerbaijani turks. The egyptians used coconut for the body of rubab, whereas azeris used wood (mulberry etc...) , azeris changed the neck of the rubab and they made it shorter,they added the third string etc...

Jack Sprat in truth, that part of the world and the desert may seem “dreary” and “stark” at a distance/first glance but closer up one quickly feels and sees that it too is teaming with life and beauty; albeit one must reorient and retrain one’s eye and heart to pick up on it, when/if they are used to greener landscapes.

This world would have been heaven where peace would be the oxygen if there were enough of people like you to fill the space with such music. It touched me intensely. I went in trance. And my dry mind got the shower just like the dry scenery had the soft background sound of a waterfall and music was the source of it which quenched the thirst.

I never get enough, it speaks truth to my soul and sooth it with peaceful callings through the desert of ourselves and the emptiness between our lights, she was there, hovering over the altar, singing something unknown to me yet sounding quite familiar and suddenly, behind her, 7 pillars of light emerged up and through them was passing all kinds of lights at angles, the view was out of this world... - Excerpt from the dreams of a shadow...

It's not a bendir, it's a duf/daf/def, played in Iran and Iraq and other countries nearby. The bendir is a North African frame drum with wires under the head that vibrate when played. A snare drum type sound.
