Awsome choice! One of, if not THE best voice in metal! Great album! I support the plea for a reaction to The Idol! You hit the nail on the head with your observation on the deep, deep, deep felt lyrics. It all comes from his own childhood and 'The Idol' will let you feel that... @@samslone9457 Metallica members are Christians too. Lots of other metal bands, didn't sell out for commercial success and didn't need religion to stay true to their music. @@samslone9457 Neither do I, the Black Album was made for radio play, short songs, simplistic themes, no thrash whatsoever. Through The Never is the heaviest song on the album and it's just hard rock. ...And Justice For All's production was shit, all high end tones with very little guitar distortion, no bass at all. On top of that Lars just let himself go, never practices and is constantly fucking up live shows.

but WASP is better than Maiden
@BlackieNuff
@BlackieNuff 3 жыл бұрын
@@Endo-uu8mo Absolutely - the first 4 albums (including the live album) are untouchable. They may have been "animated" and the songs may have been the typical "rock & roll bullshit" with nothing particularly astute (political statements ,etc) to say, but they still did it amazingly well. As for them being better than Maiden? Well, I dunno about that - back in the day, definitely, they could hold their own, but now? Blackie's voice is fucked. It only sounds good on albums cos of the auto-tune. In concert he struggles (listen to The Sting, or the acoustic demos of Hallowed Ground and Trail Of Tears - pretty cringey), and you can hear the strain just to croak out any sound, and he ends up not singing anything at all (more than half the time), letting the band's backing vocals or the crowd's "sing-along" efforts fill in the gaps. I'm not trying to dis Lawless, just face facts. We all get old and it takes its toll in different ways, and when you've been singing (screaming?) metal vocals for 40+ years, it's remarkable they still have a voice at all - but still, let's not bullshit ourselves out of devout fandom, lol. Even Dickinson is sounding a little worn (I think his range has been reduced a bit), but I'd say he is in a hell of a lot better shape vocally than Lawless. I'm also not pleased that Lawless has to drag his faith into the lyrics of his songs now (and boycott all the classics like Animal). If I wanted to hear that stuff on EVERY song, I'd listen to Stryper. But, because I've followed Lawless and W.A.S.P. for all these years, I can't just drop them as easily as I did other bands (including Maiden) when all they did was change lead vocalists (I had a real "thing" about that, lo, but I'm getting back into them all again). But if a future W.A.S.P. album (or even Lawless solo album) ever sounds like a Pat Boone album or church hymnal, where even the music is altered for that religious rot, I think that will be it for me. I can turn a "deaf ear" to lyrics and just gloss over those (did it for years with Venom), but if the music is affected, that's a different ball game. Hah, sorry for the long-ass rant. Cheers!

That riff at the halfway mark (which technically starts around 3·35 or so, 4:49 in this video) was so damn good I extended it a bit (at the 4·58 mark, 6:11 on this video). There are a handful of songs (from W.A.S.P. and other bands) where I've extended those groovy little riffs to. So good. Fun fact : a riff from this song was also used in Phantoms In The Mirror, a b-side to a single form The Crimson Idol? It's the riff during the first couple of verses, and the outro riff of Phantoms - I swear they're the same.

Hello, It's fun that it makes you think about Metallica cause W.A.S.P. have a song called "For Whom the Bell tolls" too and it's not a cover ^^. About the album cover of the Headless Children, Blackie explained that the skull is the death realm and millions of people follow the greatest villains into their "show" that ruin the world 'building in flame in background. Echoes to "Charisma" that you already reacted. Despite of that, this album speaks also about drugs and addictions which was even more important for blackie cause his guitarist, Chris Holmes was drinking way to much alcohol.

The whole 'Don't take God's name in vain thing' isn't making anyone suddenly clutch their pearls and become Christian, grow a thicker skin man. Quite a few people turned away from their music because the Christian fans get preachy about everyone needing to convert, which is an absolute shame because their new music is really good and can be enjoyed on a musical level as an atheist or person of another religion as well.
