I grew up with dirt roads. None of the county roads were paved. Blowing dust was always a concern as were tall crops at open intersections. Congratulations on your retirement. It’s so nice to be able to say “not today” when snow is blowing.

Hi Yvonne ! Oh what a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL VIDEO ! Love your items ! Saw many I loved in the Shops/Barns also! I have a LOVE AFFAIR with old barns…I think we are alike in that way too ! Love driving through the country side and seeing the old barns and STONE WALLS OR HOUSES …. I always say it is my Welsh Blood ! Yes, I have lived on a dirt road. Grew up in the house we live in now, which is one of those small towns…but when I married, my husband moved me to the COUNTRY…DIRT ROAD …AND NO NEIGHBORS ! The first time I heard I “deer snort” I thought a monster was in the woods and I was dead !!!😂😂😂 Lived there for almost 30 years! Our oldest granddaughter gets married next July and the Wedding and Reception will be in an OLD BARN and gorgeous! Of course I’m worried because you can see through the boards to the out side …! Our youngest Daughter was also Married in an Old Barn, but that one was taken apart board by board, insulated so there was A/C and heat and absolutely incredible ! The granddaughter’s not with A/C or heat. I’m thinking all dressed up and HOT JULY EVENING ! But it will be amazing… at least the plans are this far 💗 I see so many barns empty and falling in and my heart is sad…or my heart is saying “ I want those beams and boards !!! “ ❤️❤️ Again….WONDERFUL WONDERFUL VIDEO and yes, my husband likes to go and see shops like this. He is looking for Toy Vintage Tractors and me, anything that catches my heart! I just can not get around that well anymore…so it is me holding us back.☹️! Thank you for this amazing adventure !!!! The drive down the dirt road brought back many happy memories,spent many happy summers at my grandma in a little town called Morley Michigan,little house off a dirt road woods behind it and a creek beside the house that was so clear you could see the bottom,heard the road was sadly paved over.

Oh! How wonderful, all those memories! Yes, I grew up on a dirt road on a tobacco farm in eastern North Carolina and we had to walk to the crossroads to catch the school bus (until my brother got the job of driving the bus) and you’d better believe Daddy didn’t start a vehicle to haul us to the bus stop! We walked. That was beautiful countryside you showed us-thanks. There was some good STUFF at those sales. Personally, I find better stuff and prices at yard sales and estate sales than Goodwill. Our nearby Goodwill is just pure junk. It was fun, Yvonne and Chris. Thanks for sharing.

Good shopping adventures! I have my G-G-granddads Bible that has family history their marriage license record and births! Dates back to late 1800’s. He was a preacher and preached from this Bible and it’s big and heavy! I’m so blessed to have it coming through several generations!

What a great haul! I'm glad you had a good time. I don't like to take my husband with me when I thrift. He doesn't like it and will stand over me the whole time because he's ready to leave. I like to go thru boxes and maybe walk around a second time. I don't feel free to do that when he's along. So you are very lucky!

wish i could have caledl you on the phone while you are in the Barn Sale, b/c i saw a small enamel lid in light green that you cudda bought & sold to me!!! you are the MOST BLESSED LADY IN THE WORLD!! b/c your hubby helps you and goes with you to shop! mine wouldn't get up to get up to pull my arm out of the saw!!! he is lazy, does ONLY what he wants to do and I have no friends to come play with me. there are many nice places for you to shop, and good prices, too. there is a shop here that puts big prices on more expensive items, making it difficult for folks who need to shop thrift stores. the old planer and tools. how wonderful! i saw the butter mold! one day, if you ever run across a paddle that was used to form the butter balls i want one. it is wooden, and was used to rake and pack butter into a shape by the young ladies who made butter to sell.

Fun trip to your barn tours and haul. I’m a country girl as well. Love seeing the scenery! I enjoy going thrifting with my husband but that’s rare. My friend and I have a booth at a local shop, she’s teaching me how to thrift and I love it! It’s so fun to think outside the box when you see unusual items. Have to add how much I enjoy your makeover videos, I learn so much!

This was so fun to watch! We live on a dirt road and it’s nice. Not as quiet as it used to be but still good. We have something similar out here in the thumb. It’s called yard sale trail and it goes from the bottom of the thumb to the top and around up there. It’s fun but exhausting lol. There’s sooooo many yard sales. It runs all along the water so it’s pretty but crazy busy. There’s always sales on the side streets also so we just park and walk. We usually only do our town but there is sooooo many more that it’s impossible to do it all. Hubby and I have gone by ourselves and we have also taken my mom, mom in-law and son. We have found some great deals! Again I very much enjoyed you taking us with you! Thanks!

I love garage sales and estate sales, kind of an addiction! Would love to see your finds as you start going to them more. This was a fun trip and I also grew up on gravel roads. My husband always would roll his eyes or give a big sigh when I mentioned a garage sale, but he is enjoying them, estate sales and antique sales more and more now and I really love bringing him along. My daughter went to a barn sell out that way last Summer and the prices were amazing. I can’t wait to visit her so I can buy stuff and ship it home if I have to. I took dirt roads to visit relatives but I lived in a small town where Route 1 ran straight through it. It had a dairy treat and it got its first traffic light about 25 years ago (I think). I’ve been gone a long time.

If you love dirt roads come to the UP. I think about 1/3 of ours are still dirt with the trees touching. Our boys used to love to go for a ride in the truck(when people could still ride in the truck box)down these roads usually to a lake to swim and a picnic. Good times!!!!!!

It's great that you have video of the items you'd like to recreate in the future, and the staging eg on the mattress springs. Love that you say why you choose stuff, not just grabbing things left, right and centre. Bet you got swamped by cats when you'd been out all day! I've recently started a pre-loved shorebird collection. Finally, finally found some artwork and frames thrifting yesterday - I'm cheating tho, as the coasters fit in some of the frames I got. Yay and God wink indeed.

What a fun trip!! I think there is mixed emotions for my husband. I think he tags along with me to flea markets, estate sales etc in effort to spend time with me but enjoys much more than he cares to admit. As usual, thank you for sharing! I find that garage sales are where I find my greatest deals & 90% of the time you can dicker to get the item even cheaper. I usually hit the village wide sales (I am 5-20min from 8 different villages) & I go back on Sunday’s to the sales that I found the best items & if they are left you can get the items for almost nothing.

I wish I was local to the area unfortunately not even close:( but very glad to see you got some amazing finds !

How fun , what a wonderful trip ! I was so excited I got my first large crock at goodwill yesterday!! Made a second trip in an aisle and I guess it had just got sat out . A number #4 14.99. I had previously ordered one with a 5 that got broke in shipping I was so sad. Finally after years I found one !! Imstill hoping to find the 5 as we are a family of five but I love this one with my hydrangeas in it. Love watching your videos and ofcourse love all your Crocks!

I got super excited when I saw that dirt road. I thought you were coming to visit me. Lol, wink wink So it's the " thrill of the hunt," I think is the term you were looking for. Now pricing, you will learn body language and offer what you would pay for an item, and 9 times out of ten, they will take it. If they counters, that's the fun part. It's sort of like gambling without the stigma or breaking the law if you will. I ALWAYS ask if there is a bit of wiggle room, or will they 5 to 10 dollars less?
