I have no idea what Villeneuve, Fraser, Zimmer, Butler and company were smoking when creating the scenes in Giedi Prime but thank God they did it, one of the most audiovisually spectacular things I have ever seen in a Science Fiction film, I won't be the biggest fan of Feyd's character but his presentation was a gem

It took me a few minutes to realise that Villeneuve is inducing the illusion of slow motion with clever use of scale, proportions, pan and zoom. Stuff like that will immortalize the movie!

He uses real slow motion as well. But it is fluid, soft and brief. In this way, it conveys spiritual depth a scene or a shot well.

4:23 The shot that constantly reminds me why I love cinema. Very reminiscent of retro sci-fi, fantasy films from the 70s or 80s. I clearly see how Dune inspired Star Wars now

3:13-3:46 These wideshots evoke something special, largely due to the cinematohraphy itself but also due to your placing them together in this way. It feels, to a degree incredibly high, that I am observing something real, that I am a spectator witnessing a historical event. It's so hard to explain, but when all the people move about so small, it feels like I am observing a real history.
