Too easy and correct of a solution. Gotta F it up by screwing into untreated wood and not putting down a simple sill barrier between the wood piece being fastened and the concrete. 😀

As a viewer and someone who has little to no experience as a construction worker, I watch stuff like this and immediately go: “wow, that’s smart/great”. Then, I go to the comment section and read all the comments from those I presume have knowledge in the subject and they just roast the fuck out of the video. @@litoaykiu Whenever wood sills are bolted to concrete bases which touch soil, you need a vapor/moisture barrier like tar paper or plastic sheeting so that moisture doesn't "wick" up into the wood and start mold and rot.

Concrete doesn't fully set till like 30 some years so the wood rots and the screw isn't galvanized so it will rust.

The proper solution is called a raw plug. It expands when screwed into. Alternatively, you can use a ramset bolt, which also expands, if you need more strength for a supporting structure.

@@ccook3659 but why not use a masonry fastener, and why is he not using a membrane between the wood and concrete, seems like condensation will be unavoidable wth the temperature differential on that sill, sure he had to spend 5 minutes to make the donor wood and it might be all fine for an inspector to miss, but just why, if you say silicone why not just silicone the board to the sill to begin with?

Контент с подобными очевидными "примудростями" Есть на любом языке (условно для любых стран) - и это не значит что это что то отсталое, пережитки прошлого, и какой то регресс. Возможно для вас это через чур архаично, но по факту тут показан выход из ситуации когда у тебя например пара отверстий, а магазин с дюбелями за 50 км, или даже не за 50 км, а тупо нет времени или резона гнать за двумя пластмассками.

This reminds me of the way stone masons would split boulders. If the wood gets wet, it will expand and possibly crack the foundation.

Wood will rot if it touches cement/concrete. This hack is job security for ages.

Это и есть дюбель... деревянный. Вполне рабочий вариант решения задачи... Наиболее продвинутые специалисты для надежности еще и обмазывают клинышек клеем. Клей годится любой, но желательно не на водной основе.

@@prof1982 I am not saying this is not a technique that has been used for a long time, but YES, you can nail into concert. Let me introduce you to "cut nails". The technical term is "cut masonry nail". You can most definitely nail things to concrete with them. I have done it many of times.

For a temporary fix, maybe. The wood dowel cracked the concrete, if you watched closely. The wood in the hole will eventually rot out and leave the screws loose. The untreated lumber against the concrete with no barrier will quicken the demise of this construction project. Why no j-bolts I'mbedded in the concrete when it was poured? If this is an afterthought then a more simple solution would be Tapcon screws, or a .22 powered nail gun. Wood against concrete with no barrier is a bad idea for numerous reasons. Moisture, mold, dry rot as the concrete pulls the moisture out of the wood. termites, rust and corrosion... A few years down the road this temporary fix will fail.

Exactly my thoughts too! And I´m a German master electrician working in the area of the Baltic seaside since 32 years. That stuff will rot in no time or burn in a fire make the construction to fail in seconds. There are so many better solutions. Some are even legally enforced or at least rules in the building business here.

20 years of construction here, this is so wrong please don’t do this. Buy concrete anchors and do this right the first time. That’s if you did not set threaded J rod in the concrete while it was poured. Half a million likes for this trash.

In Germany we always would use „expansion dowels“ - do you call it Like that? Made from plastic, different models for different purposes. They are cheap and work great!

They have a 2 part epoxy filler that you fill the hole with and then screw the bolt right into it. Specifically made for concrete and metal bolt attachments.

1. Ты бы дюбель со ствола дерева выточил, а не с бруска 50х50 2. деревянный чопик в бетон? если больше нет ничего то сойдёт на пару лет, а потом сгниет 3. а чего между деревянной планкой и бетоном изоляция не должна быть разве? конденсат же будет - сгниет доска
