Thai Basil Pork is a very popular dish amongst Singaporeans and luckily, this dish is really easy to cook at home. All you need is 10 minutes and you have yourself a super delicious dish which goes excellent with Thai jasmine rice. Try it! I know you won’t regret it. Oh by the way, I highly recommend you to get a pot of Thai basil which is actually more economical in the long run than to buy them in batches from the supermarket.

Ingredients:
Serves 4
280g of minced pork or chicken
3 cloves of garlic- chopped
1 teaspoon of sugar
0.5 tablespoon of dark soya sauce
1 tablespoon of fish sauce
1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
2 bird’s eye chilli- deseeded & chopped
1 handful of Thai basil leaves

You'll have to go to an ethnic market. Will taste so much more diff with the Thai or holy basil- I still have yet to find a store that carries holy basil.

Hi Roland, thanks for the effort in creating this video. I would like to point out (like some other comments) that if authenticity is what you are looking for, then the Thai Sweet Basil that you are using is not correct. There is no such pork stir fry dish in Thailand using this basil. Nothing wrong with using Sweet Basil though, as some people like the taste of it with their stir frys. However, I have had my share of disappointment at less than authentic Thai food places who sell Pad Gaprow, but end up giving me Pad Horapa. What you are looking for is Holy Basil, which you can find at Golden Mile's Thai supermarket. It is also known as Tulsi by Hindus, who also revere it as a Holy plant which many of them keep in their homes. Therefore, you can try your luck at Indian shops selling plants. Also the use of Thai Garlic and Thai chilli padi (aka Prik Kinu Suan) is highly recommended to cook this dish. One good substitute for Holy Basil is the normal Italian Basil which is used in Western cooking - the same type that they use for Pesto. However, you will have to use less of it as the aroma is much stronger than Holy Basil. If you ever want to feature an authentic Pad Grapow on your channel, let me know and I will be happy to share with you the full recipe, the technique, as well as where and how to procure the right ingredients.

Thai basil is fine but If try to use Holy basil if you can. Its authentic, and the fragrance is a lot different.

For extra good flavour you can brown the meat, and “deglaze” with the soya and fish sauce

no that's not Kraprao leaves (Thai holy basil). Thai holy basil is the heart of this menu.

Did you remove one seed from the chillies? Or many seeds? Would be better if the voice over is in your native language.

What was the point of removing chilli seeds? You could make your dish less spicy by using one instead of two chillies. That's less work, and you save one chilli.
