I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. Male. In 1987, I did my first major hike with the Boy Scouts through Camp Parsons, and started to become more familiar with the Olympic Peninsula, especially the names of the rivers and mountains. Because of the easy name, and the fork in the river, I was fascinated with the Hoh River. Of course, Quinault River is fascinating, because it has Lake Quinault in the middle of it! I like to drive around Tacoma, across the Hood Canal Bridge, then down US 101 on the EAST side of the Peninsula, past Camp Parsons, and into Olympia. Before the pandemic, I used to, once a year, drive through Port Angeles (my friend went to Peninsula College in 1993, and we used to visit him, and those were fun times, and I used to date a girl who was from Port Angeles (her mother still lives there), over the Elwha River, down 101, over the Hoh and Quinault Rivers. Thing is, those mileage signs driving South, reminds me just how LONG that drive is, getting to Aberdeen!! I'm not sure when I'll do it again, but it just won't be as often. Can anybody point the time on this video, when you cross the bridge over the Hoh River? I also hear, that as a minority, I should be scared of Forks, Washington.
