The way people are reacting online you would think amazon made all other pedals ILLEGAL!, In reality these are just more rebranded OEM pedals that have been around forever. But do they sound any good?

I love that you are catering to the musician on a budget as most of us spend money on gear as a guilty pleasure and don´t want to break the bank on our "little hobby" as most would label our interest in music. Buying new gear is no substitute for creating and playing music but it sometimes can serve as the inspiration you need to write or finish a song or get one step closer to that elusive sound that you hear in your head. Well done. Keep up the good work.

On my "affordaboard" (AKA myonlyboard) I use the Cuvave fuzz with a Donner Harmonic Square harmoniser and an Ebow, and I can instantly become Robert Fripp. I think it's worth splitting the drive section. I have the Mosky Golden Horse going into the Donner Dynamic Wah, then into the Landlord Whiskey Chaser (which might only be available in the UK). I finish up with an ENO 7 band graphic EQ. The time based effects get added when the signal meets my DAW. I never play live these days.

You should do a "monthly" video on what the Affordaboard is built up with as of that date, including your amazon affiliate links for each of the pedals. Rather than sorting through the latest review of some pedal and finding the Affordaboard updates at the end. That also allows for replacements of discontinued pedals or pedals that popped their price too high.

These "affordable" pedals proves that the guitar player no longer needs to decide between paying rent and getting a decent pedal. They're all pretty much the same circuits as the high end stuff. Ultimate drive is not a high gain pedal, it gets close though. Not a fair comparison. It is an OCD clone. The distortion won't clean up like the ultimate drive can. They seem more like Kokko rebrands than NUX ones. I don't think the AmazonBasics delay has tap tempo like the Twinote/NUX ones do and the design seems to match Kokko's style more than NUX's. Whether the internals are the same, I don't know, but the distortion sounded different in the video to the Twinote British Dist, which I think is the same as the NUX Brownie (though that could be because of different setups)

@@AmbroseLiuI think the Amazon Basics does have a tap tempo too. It just isn't advertised for some reason, just like with the other rebrands of that pedal. @@ViviSectia I just found it surprising that they could buy NUX parts (if it has their logo, I'm assuming at least those parts aren't cloned) but sell them for less. @ViviSectia

@@AmbroseLiu I think you're misunderstanding. These pedals were made by NUX in their factory. They just changed the brand name that was put on the pedal. Not content with all the billions, now wants to take money out of the hands of pedal builders. Not for me.
@real_mrmime9617

This argument is so overused and nonsensical when you actually consider the context of the entire pedal industry. The fact of the matter is that AmazonBasics pedals are not going to stop people like you or me from buying nicer pedals from smaller builders, because these Amazon pedals aren't meant for people like you and me. Obviously you or I would want pedals that sound better, and have better build quality, and allow us to support smaller businesses - but guess what? Those pedals also aren't $25. So what if Nux sells the same pedals for just a bit more - Nux is making money either way. You think they're creating these for Amazon for free? You know who these are meant for? Kids that can't afford nice pedals, or can't swing that extra $25 to get the Nux branded pedals. Adults that are just getting started on guitar but don't want to spend a whole lot on pedals quite yet. You know what these Amazon pedals enable those people to do? Make the kind of music they want to make. And then guess what happens? Those kids grow up and make more money, and those adults get better at the guitar and want to upgrade - AND THEY BUY OTHER PEDALS. Stop making it seem like somehow Amazon is killing the guitar pedal market, because you're completely missing the point then. We can revisit this conversation if Amazon starts making Strymon Big Sky rebrands that sell for $250, or Helix stomps that sell for $300, cus then you'd have a valid point.

You should comp these to different digital multi fx units. For instance, is the affordaboard pedals better than a Zoom, line6 or Boss GT? Just a thought.

from my experience with cheap multi effects (zoom g1 , g3) they sound fine but nowhere near a pedal (proco rat , ds1 , mxr distortion+ and inexpensive mooer delays)

@albertplaysguitar
@albertplaysguitar 3 жыл бұрын
It's been a love hate relationship. But I think I figured some good uses for my TS. The first is to put it in front of a heavier overdrive/distortion pedal or overdrive amp to get that really tight bottom end and crazy pinch harmonics. The second is to use a guitar with humbuckers. It will round out the sharp edges and fizz. I typically keep the drive at a minimum.
@jpizzleforizzle
@jpizzleforizzle 3 жыл бұрын
@@albertplaysguitar yeah, I'm fine using it as a tone shaper or boost for higher gain. But the gain structure on its own is what I don't like. Basically, Id never use one as a standalone OD.
@albertplaysguitar
@albertplaysguitar 3 жыл бұрын
@@jpizzleforizzle I agree! Although, I did get the Joyo vintage overdrive for my budget board, and I was surprised to find that the gain structure on that, although very much a TS clone, actually fit the bill as a stand alone. Now I wanna check out the Plumes.
