We bought this tablet for our babe without doing much research. In this video we discuss what we like about the Amazon Kindle Kids Edition and things we wish we would have known before buying the tablet.

This is my second Amazon kids tablet purchase. kzfaq.infoUgkxAPUD3wGXVz7iwFny2pBBqGomYxe_7J6U I bought my son his first when he was one and now that he is almost three we just upgraded to this version a couple of months ago. I love that you can control the age content, block certain apps and videos, and free storage space with apps that haven’t been used in a while. This tablet has assisted my son’s learning in so many ways. We love it!

I would not buy it if I cannot control the content display nyself. No thanks. Samsung has a kid app in their phone and you can put any app to show on the kids section.

Thank you so much for your info. I saw a Mum with Twins they each had one and went up and asked the young Mum what they were called. We would like to get one for our Grandsons 3rd Birthday next year. Happy New year x

If you have Disney MovieAnywhere and an Amazone Prime account connect them together so all your age appropriate Disney digital movies will show in Amazon Free Time

Google Play is available for Kindle and is easily googled. You have to enable non secure app to install it, which is the down side. Amazon tablets are cheap because you buy the content from them.

+Florence Sanders you can get Google Play but it requires a few extra steps and settings change. In the video I just wanted to let you know that it's not as easy as going to the app store and downloading

P.P.S. Yep totally agree with the lack of preview limitation... I've downloaded apps that I thought were games but were actually books... And the auto download thing for a little kid.... stupid. But overall an amazing tablet for a kid. Much much tougher than the Ipad. Add some tempered glass and it's nearly indestructible.

Amazon app store is available for most android phones though. So if you buy your stuff there, you can get it on the fire tablet, and your phone. Or sideload the app store. Nice video, shame about the focus going in and out all the time.

Just bought and Hd8 kids for my daughter on Ebay.. $57 and free shipping. That's after she broke her 5th Ipad... So impressed with this for the money. The free time unlimited subscription is an amazing bargain. P.S. Diane you are hot but that's besides the point. haha

This tablet is nice, but I agree with you on the free play. I wish it would only show the downloaded apps only instead of showing every possible icon that is on the tablet and those that are not yet downloaded.

You CAN control what to show and what to hide from the content of your child's profile. This will help you keep only the apps she likes (or what you would approve of her using) in her view. Thanks for the video. BTW, There’s a walk around for the google store. I dont have the links, but you cant easily find it here on youtube. Wasn’t too long to do as well. Hope it helps ;)

You tube is available, you need to download it on your profile them add the app to your childs profile.

You can add the Google Playstore onto the tablet just got to a video and if they tell you about some links just go to them download some files reboot your tablet and youll have the playstore

+Zio Casas Thanks!! You're right, there's definitely a way to get Google Play onto the tablet. The average "non-tech' mom probably won't go the extra step to get it, just wanted to let them know it's not what they'd expect

If you google how to add google play to kindle it will show you how. There's lots of KZfaq videos as well on how to make that happen😁

I think it’s a good thing KZfaq is not available. If it is available then the kids get hooked on to all crap KZfaq shows for kids. This is for learning and good to to keep KZfaq away from it

Advice to keep her from downloading and using content she doesnt understand. Download everything u think she likes from books to apps, then turn off wifi after download. This way she can only browse thru content that has already been downloaded, preventing her from the web and apps she might be eager to press. Then when u do have the time to invest in paying attention to how she is using her tablet, u can reconnect the wifi, and allow video content to be seen

I got one and the glass broke..they replaced it for free but get a glass protector..it got broken even with the bumper on

Hi! A KZfaq app is not available for the tablet. There is a web-based shortcut available but not the usual KZfaq app.

Do not buy. Usb port is deffective after a few uses. Amazon only keeps replacing the device and it keeps happening

Yes ! I have two kids i got em both for there bday BOTH TABLETS had the same problems stop charging after a while so hey we had warranty returned them back both and soon enough they both arent charging again after two months wtf !

+Suleman Hussain When you first walk through the setup it links to your Amazon Prime account. However, there's nothing you have to purchase when using Free time. The only cost would be renewing your subscription after the first free year.

The Deal Guy has a video where he throws that device all over the floor, dented his hardwood floor did not break the kindle. that sold me right away. And you can determine how long your kids play which games or content. So they get blocked out of anything non educational for a time you determine and blocked completely whenever you think enough is enough. If you load it with those controls before they open their presents they will adapt fast enough and maybe even learn how to prioritize their play time on the kindle. I see lots of tantrums in the future for my grandsons but its the device, not mom restricting them. Personally I think you tube has some hazards that their parental controls can't filter and I know the four year old is going to have melt downs when he can't get to some of his favorite channels but I think he'll find the other fun stuff soon enough and will forget his youtube fast.

Yes in the tablet, no in the FreeTime profile. if it allowed it, it defeats the purpose of providing kid friendly content ONLY as you can't control what they search for in KZfaq. So if that is your first priority then don't use the FreeTime mode.

The replacement is a new one if you purchased a new one. If you bought a refurbished then that would be the replacement.

Shes obviously too young for a tablet AND you dont manage her/what shes watching all the time!! Your complaints are entirely your fault...you obviously gave her your phone for yoir own ease...u rly need to realise what kind of parent you are/want to be and should reconsider
