I'm 1% Nigerian. That practically makes us brothers. Lived in off campus housing during my Junior year in college. It was almost entirely African. They were a scream. Two of them were Nigerian. James Madozie who I played soccer with was a great guy. Quiet most of the time, but when he said anything it was always worth listening to. His roommate was Benny Chuks (I don't recall the full spelling). I got along with him just fine but he didn't seem to like the other black Africans in our house. He seemed to think he was better than them. I later found that both of them were Ebo and that Benny's attitude was not unusual.

In Season 2, they want Guyladriel to "respond" to the sexual attraction to Sauron, which since she is supposed to be married, would make her into a lying, cheating, manipulative, adulteress. Durin IV is a traitor to his king. The writers believe that the ENDS justify the means, which not only shows their lack of a moral compass but is also an evil philosophy. The so-called good guys are actually the bad guys.

You can thank Obama for legalizing blatant propaganda. Only independent media now has standards applied to them, and only if you can weaponize the legal system against them (Jones). If you're CNN, MSNBC, HuffPo, NYTimes or anyone in their incestuous little cadre you can say whatever you want if it promotes the agenda properly. There's no burden of proof, truth, morals, integrity or anything else. Just blatant lies. They're lying. We know they're lying. They know we know they're lying and they're still lying.

You are mistaking malice for ignorance. The creators of the show know how to read and they have reading comprehension. Identity politics has poisoned the entertainment industry and attracted the most wretched and forsaken individuals in managing positions. The show was specifically made to polarize the audience. It was made to mock the author. It was meant to be controversial and gain notoriety. You were meant to feel attacked as a fan. It was also intended to have more views. Gain notoriety, divide the audience and make one half watch it by making it feels like they're fighting the nazis and sexists by doing so. However this is like what... the 100th show in the last 5 years to do this? People got tired of it. Everyone is a sexist nazi now and it doesn't feel as exciting anymore. So what happens is that half didn't show up and the other half is bashing your show relentlessly. It's over.

Yeah, I know. But even with what they did get the rights to they could've done something much much better than this. If you thought Peter Jackson's movies were cheesy, then you will die of a cheese overdose from watching Rings of Power. It does help you fall asleep if you have insomnia. The hype and the excitement over flashy scenes, and conversations with characters we remember and love, tend to bewitch us into handing over money, keeping our brains distracted, until that peters out. Then we start to see the cracks and hear the voice of the man behind the curtain pulling strings. The producers just look at the early viewing numbers, and then walk away, and learn the wrong lessons. So I would agree if you refer to whether it stands the test of time, no diminishing returns. The illusion needs to hold just as strong as it was the first time. With Rings of Power, Amazon had only a fool's hope of continuing that trend. No characters in the forms that we remember, or love. Flashy scenes that are undercut by the actors shuffling around and looking dumb so that the "stars" can look great, and in some cases even the laws of physics break themselves for the payoffs, and we can all see it. Like a child hiding under a cloak - we can see your fucking feet!

One unbiased method of gauging a show or movie's popularity is piracy websites. For example, during the whole season of House of the dragon, the show never disappeared from the most popular torrent section of 1337x. In contrast, rings of power never appeared there except for the first one or two episodes

Most piracy websites are accessed in countries like India. Here Game of Thrones is massively popular while very few know Lord of the Rings. Also, Disney comes with Hotstar in India and Hotstar has the idea of how marketing works for Indians. Very few knew about Rings of Power in India and that's why it never appeared. Having said that, even if it would have had appeared, it would have disappeared in a few weeks because the show is actually crap. I hated episode 3 so much that could not watch beyond that.

You have to consider that Amazon Prime has far more users than HBO, so their piracy numbers will be lower than HBO. But for the sake of it, here are some stats. A qbittorrent search comparison for "Rings of Power" and "House of the Dragon". The top 3 most seeded results for RoP are episode 6, 7 and 4, each with around 3,000 seeds. For House of the Dragon it's episode 10, 10, and 10 again, each with over 9,000 seeds. RoP's top 3 most leeched result are Episode 3, 6 and 7 with around 900 each. While for HoTD has nearly 5,000 leeches for each of its top 3 most leeched results. Episode 10, 10 and 10 again. HoTD has over 15,000 leeches for it's finale, across the top 3 results. While RoP has just 1,500 leeches for its finale, across the top 3 results.

@@hightide1500 I wouldn't call that a problem with the show. The lord of the rings is slow, the silmarillon is slow, Tolkien's works in general take a lot of time to tell you all the details. From the mountains and valleys and the elven family trees to the way a hobbit prepares their second breakfast. It's all these details and slowness that make the world believable and immersive. Sure, modern cinematography requires action to grab the viewer's interest in the first five minutes, but that's just not what Tolkien's stories are about. The problem is that rop dumped all that and decided to build their own world that was just a mockery of Tolkien's world. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and watched the first three episodes. The show showed the same level of knowledge and understanding of middle earth that an elementary schooler would have after explaining it to them once. Especially when Valinor wasn't a visible island in the ocean even though Numenor still existed.

What all of that diatribe will hopefully amount to is the familial organisation that hold the rights to Tolkien's IP and legacy being a lot less willing to allow licencing of the IP without far more extensive vetting of the people who are to be handling the material from the offset. If they're not someone like Jackson who (outside of say The Hobbit movies, but I am more of the opinion that his hand was forced in that instance) treated the parent materials with a degree of reverence in the process of making the LOTR movies, then by the make up of the license agreement, they should be able to step in and essentially put a stop to whatever modern agenda (regardless of its makeup) they're trying to inject into the narrative.

Omg, that opening was fracking perfect! We need more memes of Jeff Bezos as a laughingstock. He deserves it and maybe it will make him think twice before attacking Nerd culture. Plus it has the potential to be hysterical! Penis rocketman has outdone himself in comedy gold.

It's shocking how Amazon didn't even take lessons from that PR team. Their just that moronic and arrogant to think they'd handle the backlash from a globally wide fanbase. Their egos are larger than any blackholes in the universe.

@@more-reasons6655 No sir. Absolutely not. Their visual effects supervisor was on Corridor Crew and no, that is not the way things play out. It'd take an otherworldly genius to predict the audience's initial reaction, its perception, and finally, the fact that the movie would surely be a success. We'd like to think we've connected the dots but it's not always as straightforward as we might think.

Thanks for the update! I refuse to watch Rings of Power, knowing they would ruin it. When will people learn not to mess with the original. I binge watched Andor on someone else's account because I refuse to support a company who ruins things. It was ok. As usual, I watched because I saw a known character, whom I liked in Rogue One. I kind of liked the backstory. Does not change my mind that Disney has been making bad decisions though.

Roald Dahl, via Danny The Champion of the World, taught me this, “I was glad my father was an eye-smiler. It meant he never gave me a fake smile because it’s impossible to make your eyes twinkle if you aren’t feeling twinkly yourself. A mouth-smile is different. You can fake a mouth-smile any time you want, simply by moving your lips. I’ve also learned that a real mouth-smile always has an eye-smile to go with it. So watch out, I say, when someone smiles at you but his eyes stay the same. It’s sure to be a phony." J. Salke's smile is venomous.
