Had a dented Mean Streets 4K boxset from Amazon . I was gonna send it back . Showed to my sister ,i and she told me to get over myself lol. If it was vinyl i would have.

I think half the time the damage occurs before they package it up. I've had things that were well packaged but still had damage, so I think it's a case of being mishandled by their employees - perhaps the item was dropped, or not handled with due care, perhaps because they just don't care enough to handle things properly...? I once ordered a copy of The Driver on 4k - it arrived in a well packaged box with plenty of bubble-wrap, but the slip case was badly damaged, creased and dented and the plastic case was broken... And yes, the rest of the time it's completely inappropriate packaging. I order a lot from the US and things arrive in thinly padded paper bags, or at the other end of the scale, a single movie in a large box with little to no padding, rattling and moving around constantly - miraculously undamaged much of the time...

I'm very reluctant to order anything off the internet now because the delivery is so unreliable. Last month I ordered something and it said delivery time 1pm to 3pm. So I Ieft my front door open from 12.30pm to just make sure he knows I am in the house. Guess what at 1.30pm I get a notification on my phone that he tried to deliver at 1.25pm and he showed a photo of my front door that was closed. A total lie then because the door was open at 12.30pm. Love your rants. Cheers.

Your lucky there. I bought on Ebay listed as in new condition the LP of the Suspiria Soundtrack by Goblin from the British heart Foundation doing my bit for charity and that. It arrived from Belfast in a plastic eBay bag and that's it...even as bad the sleeve bent out of shape and the record slightly warped. Good job it's for charity or it'd be right back at them. Amazon’s packaging has been awful for a few years now. I do still use them a lot because Prime delivery is really handy, but if its something like a limited edition or a steelbook, I will order it from somewhere else because I don’t trust them to not arrive damaged.

Same happened to me with the Bruce Lee 4k box set, even after I'd contacted them to package it properly, twice! Luckily only the one replacement. I've seen other collectors choose the giftwrap option when ordering as it seems to be packaged better.

It's not being picky john I'm actually the same. I like to look after my stuff so it has to arrive in top condition. I would say the one company I have had numerous problems with is music magpie using a bag to send expensive blu rays out.

I can totally relate to your situation there John, hence why I never - never, order anything from Amazon unless I absolutely have to. Quite a few big price boxsets I purchased came in those stupid bubble mailers and the edges were dinged in pretty good. I left a review of how disappointed I was in the packaging on one of them, and Amazon wouldn't accept the review for some stupid reason, and that's when I really had enough. I probably should've contacted them like you did, but my luck I'd have gotten someone trying to give me the run-around and I know I'd have lost my temper had that happened, so maybe I took the higher road in the long run. Nowadays I either buy directly from a label's website or from smaller run family style companies. Glad you were able to get a better copy in the end. Good video John. I've been lucky with steel books from Amazon damage-wise, but that's more luck than the quality of packaging. Amazon really are slipping with pre-orders, on release day you can still be waiting, cancel your pre-,order and order again, and get it dispatched immediately, when the pre-order delivery was still estimated days away.

What I don't understand is why doesn't Amazon list👂🤔

As a physical media collector like yourself - I fully understand John, its so annoying, its not getting any cheaper thats for sure and if you buy it 'new' it should be FULLY in that condition, you might as well source second hand if you are 'OK' with a knock or two.

Love the KIN soundtrack and Donuts in particular, listened to that before seeing the film. Had heard bad things but picked up the blu ray brand new for £2 delivered on ebay and quite liked it.

Frustrating with Amazon at times matey.. glad you managed to get the replacement damage free.. I only tend to order stuff like dvds, blu rays etc that I know 9 times out of 10 won't get damaged in transit 😎👍

Amazon do waste alot of cardboard and packaging. I sometimes buy 2 blu rays together and they end up in different parcels, instead of just the one. So daft

I only use Amazon when I have to these days. Was always a 50/50 chance on getting something damaged. A collectors worst nightmare 😱

I’ve had this experience with Amazon as well John- very common with some steel books I’ve ordered from them but also on some records. The one good thing about them is that they are usually good about returns and refunds but what a waste of money overall. By the way, John- you REALLY need to stop calling them “Vinyls”- only people under 25 call them that. They should only ever be called RECORDS 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Had a similar situation John. Ordered Now Yearbook 1981 on triple vinyl and it arrived in an oversized brown paper bag and it was moving about inside. All 4 corners were scuffed or creased and a large crease across the bottom. Sent it straight back. Replacement turned up in a box similar to yours. I want mine in top condition as well mate, they are not cheap are they? They are damaging a huge amount of stuff they send out, due to poor packaging. I try to go elsewhere online whenever possible. John. I had a delivery from Amazon last week of a 7 inch vinyl box set by a great 90s band called Jellyfish. It was a £60 set. The delivery driver handed it to me not in any packaging at all, the shrink had been ripped off and they had placed the postage label over the hype sticker on the shrink! It beggars belief how anyone thought that would be acceptable. I would say however that most items I have are in great condition

Just put it in bubble wrap and decent box Amazon ffs its shocking sometimes arrow sometimes are shite aswell

Amazon liquidate returns so lose nothing i agree its a coin toss using amazon but honestly i like the convenience. Only issues i have had are mistakes at the distribution centre that amazon automatically understood and got me sorted in the end. Glad you got what you wanted in the end 💚

As much as we collectors, like our things perfect. It's not a perfect world And every time somebody sends something back. Because the packaging now grant it. We are collectors, but the packaging is usually not a big deal to most people. And we complain about the price is going up-and-up. This is one of the reasons why. When are we being to anal ps ? Did that corner really affect you listening and enjoying that record
