In this video I show you how I use technology to help spread fertiliser as accurate as possible. I look at the amazone app and how to use it and also look at the patchwork gps I use. I also take some footage as I’m spreading on silage ground. Hope you enjoy watching...

The Amazone app looks infinitely better than the Bogballe app. It's a real hit or miss with fertiliser brands and/or type - mostly a miss. The L1 spreader i have has no built in toys but is very accurate when you get it set. Patchwork gps looks worthy of closer look

Johnny Depp well fertiliser is expensive and the more accurate you spread it, better value for money you get from it, better yields from crops of grass or crops. So technology can play its part in all this. Takes the guessing out of it.

How accurate do you find the app for the settings. I find you need to set the spreader .5 lower than what's recommended for better accuracy.

Sean S depends on the spreader. I actually set 1 side .5 less as 1 side empty’s slightly faster. There is a celebration tool that Amazone should give with spreader. But they only give to dealers. The problem is dealers never had the calibration tool and spreaders were never calibrated when sold new. The spreader would want re-calibrated every couple years. If you had the tool you could do that.

Or Spring barley was good but a lot of it was flatend and we stopped sowing Spring oats because it's to late when your cutting only if farmers want us to we will

Could you make up a we 8 inch panel and put it on top of the sower to cover more ground

James Boyle yes you could. If could get ton and a half in there be great help. When your spreading at higher rates it disappears fast

Tom Reel it depends on your tractor. Think it comes with the 3 pin one that is in most tractors. But it’s only a matter of changing the plug to suit ur tractor.

gerry6420~thanks..we run our spreader on a leyland 272 syncro which is the oldest in our fleet.like u said u can get the spreader set perfect but cant be accurate with your overlap extra been thinkin about puttin some sort of system in

Tom Reel exactly. you could set up a lead from the battery terminals with alligator clips for older tractors. Wouldn’t be a problem.

Eamonn Doherty not this year. Have some maize silage to get in and somebut of reseeding to do. That’s about it.

They were about €1700 in Ireland 4 years ago but I think good bit cheaper in the UK. They have no doubt come down in price now too

We have about 500 acres to do and only one feild ploughed

Eamonn Doherty it’s a mess. We’re done planting spring crops. Last year averaged 1.5 tons per acre. Year before 2 tons...... both were 3.5 ton plus crops. Went down with the weather and were salvage operations. That finished us with spring crops
