AMD CPU: Change UMA Frame Buffer Size to 2GB from Adrenaline and BIOS to avoid app crashing issues

Step 1: Change Setting in AMD iGPU Software
Step 2: Change Setting in BIOS.
Step 3: Shut Down System. Wait 1 min. Start it.
Step 4: Restart the System.
Check the allocated RAM usage in task manager under Hardware Reserved, it should say 2GB+ now.

I am also having the same issue while restarting. Also i am facing display drivers crashing while using Netflix on browser as well as in App, as I told you abut the same in your stream. I will let you know after doing all the steps if this resolves the issue or not. Thank you! !!UPDATE!! PROBLEM IS SOLVED ( both NETFLIX and display not turning on after booting). THANK YOU!!!!

I am using Legion slim 5 (Ryzen 5 7840HS). The problem only exists while using laptop on iGPU (780M) and all the issues goes away if i switch my system to RTX 4060 through Vantage.

It is working now. All the issues are resolved. I noticed while using Netflix now 780M is using 700-800MB of dedicated memory and its not crashing the drivers.

What happens if you have your graphics set to discreet and you change the UMA buffer size to two? Does nothing happen or are you allocating memory that can't be used for anything else and therefore not get the performance? Or is uma always used? The way I understood it was if I have it set to discrete it's only going to use the 8 GB on the Nvidia 3070 TI card. If the rest of the system needs that two gigabytes allocated to the UMA frame buffer size, do I lose that amount? I have a 16 GB legion 5 pro. And currently have it set to discreet. I wasn't sure if there was better advantage to saving it as dynamic? I was having a lot of crashes with Adobe illustrator working on a 11 GB backdrop file for a show. I am trying to increase performance.

Yes, UMA is always used. Just checked. I couldn't figure out much about it, however, it should depend on mux. I currently am on dGPU mode only and still the UMA size is reserved which I can't use. Maybe the situation is different on desktops. Yes, you lose that amount. If your application requires more RAM, you will have no choice but to increase it. Windows itself takes... Did you check the performance optimizer and game optimizer setting in AMD adrenaline? It's not for all laptops, but do share your laptop's Adrenaline software and BIOS videos on your channel and then comment again(Not reply).

You don't need to disable secure boot to play valorant. What are you talking about?

@@makingtechfriendly The secure boot option was selected as enabled in BIOS but not actually enabled. It was showing as disabled in system information yet enabled in BIOS mode. i saw a video or comment somewhere that we have to reset our setting, below secure boot option to actually enable secure boot. And he wants to enable the secure boot option. He has actually written enabled as unable. he doesnt want to disable it. actually to play valo you have to enable secure boot , which was also disabled in my system!!

Why do you need it to be 64GB? Can the iGPU even handle so much VRAM at once, I am doubtful, regardless, do tell us how it goes on your own channel, then comment here

@@makingtechfriendlyI need it for experiments with pyTorch - there are things which don't work with 16. If the iGPU has the same address registers like the CPU, (and they live together so go outside via the same memory bus), it should be able to address the whole 128 GB physical memory.
