Still if 3900X can't keep up 5 GHz with different number of cores, why 3600X can't do 5 GHz at least in single core boost? It could be a real value with good single or double core boost.

You're getting 7700k gaming performance + 2/4 threads extra to keep those minimums up and so you can have a web broswer open watching a movie or something without stutter. Ask me how I know with my 4770k OC'd its so anoyying the performance hit.

So now it is 26 JUN 2020 and I am still running a 1600 on a Crosshair 6 and 32 Gb of Flair 3200 and the CPU daily drives @ 3.850 Ghz. Been giving a a 3700x a good look. But maybe I will just wait to see what 2021 has available for GPUs. The 1600 does OK with a 60Hz 1440 monitor. But a new 3700x is $275. Maybe I will do both. The GTX 690 is getting long in the tooth. And thanking amd for the competition. Having AMD and Intel competing in the market is good for us all. We benefit from increases in productivity, ipc, and generally better products from this. I've been rooting for AMD because of this. Intel has held on for to long and the market shows. Now we have so much choice it's really amazing. The PC building scene is more accessible today than it was just 2 years ago.

9 months later...I still want to build my first PC............still haven’t bought a single part with all these parts and prices coming out back to back to back. I have been watching both your channels nonstop and it has been making my super indecisive self question myself every single second of every given moment. I hate you both and yet I love you both. Edit: guys...the replies are just making me question myself even more 😂 Edit 2: Ok. Intel vs AMD is like Xbox vs PS at this point. I don’t choose one or the other. What I am struggling with is finally building my first PC. As it stands I was finally about to go Z390 and 9900K, 2080Ti, and then Zen 2/super/Navi came out and now I can’t decide whether I want to go Z390/9900K or X570/3950X/Navi, and super/Navi. Edit 3. RANT. Some user decides, because I have been saving up for what feels like forever, to build my first system thinks I am rich and decides to criticize me by stating I am rich and having first world problems without having any personal info on me is beyond ridiculous. I have been reading all the helpful comments in hopes of finally making a decision, but then asshats like Rami Bros decides to critique my character without knowing anything about me is beyond absurd. If you have nothing of value to bring to the table, please refrain from making an input. This has been helpful an enjoyable for me until I read such a stupid reply. Sorry for the rant.

Never wait on computer parts. either buy everything all at once or don't and wait out for a good sale day. Never buy computer parts piece by piece at different times unless you already have a computer built and doing it for upgrading. Longer you wait the older the parts are and more newer models come out if you want to wait for cheaper prices.

Nvidia GPU drivers were an issue for me in the past and hearing their performance being gimped on purpose on Linux doesn't make me feel any better about them (not to mention GPU passthrough is a pain with them). Intel processors and iGPU's work fine on Linux. However, AMD processors absolutely destroy Intel's processors in Linux when you benchmark them. Just look at the Pentium n4200 on Ubuntu and then compare it to the AMD A10-9620p which runs on a significantly older and weaker architecture. My A10-9620p at the time I benchmarked it last was having thermal issues and even throttled during Geekbench but it still managed to pull off a rounded 4800 multi-core score. The Pentium n4200 which is the price point competition of the A10 (or it was before Ryzen mobile launched) tops out at around 3900. Both tests were run on Ubuntu 18.04 running Geekbench in the terminal. Start trying to compare gaming performance and even in games that prefer Intel processors the AMD processor will still usually outperform the Intel processor while on Linux. I haven't tested many games, and I don't think I've tested any that favor one brand over the other, only Skyrim and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2. I don't have either laptop anymore to test anything else. I'm gonna only reference Skyrim for this because KOTOR 2 is old as hell and runs well on pretty much anything. I'm talking old Skyrim by the way, not the remaster. Settings were- 1366x768 resolution No anisotropic filtering No AA Shadows on Medium Textures on Medium Render distance set to the middle of the bar on each slider Fixed Shadows and FPS mod installed. Without this mod the game is unplayable on either because of frame skipping and artifacting caused by shadows Ubuntu 18.04 for OS No software running in the background The AMD system did have 4gb more RAM, but in Ubuntu neither system ever hit 4gb of RAM usage to begin with. They both came close to around 3.7-3.8gb while running the game. AMD system specs- AMD A10-9620p 8gb single channel DDR4 RAM at 1866MHz. Man this generation of AMD mobile CPU's was weird Radeon R5 integrated Bristol Ridge graphics. 1tb HDD Intel system specs- Intel Pentium n4200 4gb LPDDR3 RAM at 1866MHz, don't know if it was dual channel or not. Intel HD 505 graphics 64gb eMMC storage Running through the opening mission on both laptops with the same settings in the same room with the same ambient temperature, the Intel laptop ran the game at 22FPS pretty consistently. I didn't log it, just watched the numbers and it floated around 18-22fps most of the time. The AMD laptop made the Intel laptop look like weak. Ran the game at a solid 35-60FPS. There's a lot more fluctuation with the framerate on the AMD processor but it's overall much higher. I don't have experience with AMD's dedicated cards on Linux and no experience firsthand with Nvidia on Linux at all. Only with those two laptops. And the Pentium was only temporary because it wasn't my laptop. For Linux devices AMD absolutely stomps the ass of the competition. But in other operating systems it's not such an easy decision. Intel definitely works, I'm not saying Intel is BAD in Linux. I mean look at Chrome OS and Cloudready. Both are Linux based operating systems that Intel absolutely dominates the market in. Intel just isn't the best processor to go for in a Linux system where gaming is going to be a focus in my experience. However Intel's heat management and power efficiency are significantly better on the laptop side for the older processors like the Pentium n4200. The A10 took a repaste to get the damn thing just to stop throttling after an hour of sitting idle. It's not bad anymore though. I still adamantly despise HP for their cooler design but it at least stopped throttling. But if raw FPS is a must have and you want Linux, AMD is king. Sorry for the rant OP I just felt like this fits with what you said and helps validate it even more.
