Thank you so much for this in depth review. Such a bummer! The Joy Plus and the Madela Pump in Style are the only two options Kaiser provides through insurance. I’ll get the Joy Plus but I’ll definitely consider going out of pocket for a better performing system.

They are giving other options now but the out of pocket for a lot of them is the same as just buying it without insurance at like costco 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

my insurance also offer only these 1- Medela Pump in Style w/Maxflow technology for free and 2- Ameda Mya Joy Plus with bag for free 3- spectra sp1 for $75. and I have a friend who is giving me her spectra. in this case what would you choose? new spectra for $70 or Ameda free and used spectra free

I have the ameda mya joy plus is it OK if I use the spectrum cups?

I have the original mya. Biggest issue is with the lithium polymer battery- it doesn't retain a charge. Noticed a lot of cimilre pumps have this battery (cost?) Instead if lithium ion. Also, is hygeia fit also the same cimilre f1/mya? Looks awfully familiar 🤔

I took some time looking into this- there is not a clear issue with the type of battery as each type has benefits and drawbacks. The Ameda Mya had a known battery issue but it isn’t necessarily because of the type of battery. I suspect that it was a matter of quality or a design flaw in that particular pump.
