I grew up in Wassaic and spent a lot of time with the other kids in that town, hanging out around there. I was living in one of the houses close to the train tracks and remember when they brought in Metro again. We could be in the kitchen and see the faces of passangers on the train because we were that close. The red building that was at the Y sits right over top of that little creek. We fished off that bridge but my favorite was when that was a little store. The wooden floor had a knot that fell out. As a young kid we'd be on our hands and knees with our eye held to the floor watching the water flow under us. 😂 There are still so many historic buildings there and its been very unchanged in 30 years as far as removing or adding buildings. As a teenager, I worked at Four Brothers, then on to what was Grand Union. I was there through their changes from G.U. to Food Town and then Fresh Town. I graduated from Webutuck in 2003. It's s been a long time since I've been back but Wassaic/Amenia will always hold a special place in my memories. Thanks for taking the drive. I know those roads like the back of my hand and I didn't realize how much I missed seeing this scenery. ❤

All those years when I was a kid in Beacon, we never got to Amenia. Lovely place, especially in the spring. Thanks.
