For a few years I have been searching KZfaq for a very contemporary arrangement of this piece we performed when I was in college to post on my FB page for Independence Day. I have yet to find it. Your composition gets that spot until I find it, and maybe even if I find it. Thank you for this.

Not for the Washington politicians, not for the rich, powerful and celebrities, but for the ordinary USA citizens, the grassroots hardworking, responsible and family loving Americans who have made our USA - our home - great. Hi phorenix.... I hang my flag out every day and night, in some part because of what you said. For every day citizens who believe and believed, and still believe in our country, and understand the reasons why. Being a veteran myself, I salute those who have served, and understood also.

Thanks, Michael. I am a veteran too and that is a large reason for my loving our country. More so, this country is so beautiful with its abundance of forests, mountains, plains, rivers, lakes, wild life and natural flora. And about ninety percent of our citizens are the 'ordinary' people who are still good, responsible, and patriotic, I believe. For you and me and millions of others like us who believe in our national heritage and ideals, this love of our country still sustains us..

Is it okay if I just sit here and cry for a while? America is under sustained attack from within and from without and the contrast with this beauty is just too much to bear. Someone at Hillsdale sees what I see in her and the battle is hard to fight. This country is worth saving ... not just as a piece of real-estate or a collection of natural resources, but as a nation - intact and vibrant and whole.

I love this song, I HATE this arrangement!!! 3:35 - "Till selfish gain no longer stain The banner of the free!" - that is NOT in the original, it's a "social justice" message that has no place in a patriotic hymn, and certainly deserves no emphasis. I support Hillsdale, you need to fix this video with the traditional arrangement.

50calBeowulf Yes. Thank you for the missing verse. Independence Day is one of my favorite American holidays. I reflect on what the founders fought for and imagine what they might think of what has become of America since its' founding. All the inventions. Abolishing slavery. The wars that have been fought on behalf of others who needed our help. And sadly the latest assaults on religious freedom. This country has been through a lot, and I am always amazed at our storied history. We live in a great republic....if we can keep it.

This has encouraged me and stirred my heart in a profoundly moving way. I tear up every time I watch/listen to it. I think I am up to 30 views now. Absolutely amazing!!!

I shared this video every single day during the capital riots because it was so beautiful and reminded me of what this country used to be. The choir sounds like angels. It made me think have we forgotten who we really are. I cry everytime I listen to this. So incredibly beautiful.

For 245 years, America has been the role model for every other nation on earth. No matter how many other governments are modeled after the United States, the American three branch system remains the best and longest lasting. I cannot imagine a more beautiful and moving arrangement by Frank LaRocca and this performance by Hillsdale College’s choir. I can only hope that in today's divided nation we may once again find the humanity and common decency; the pride, and the wherewithal to overcome the disrespect and defeat the misleading lies that somehow have overtaken us. .... I have longed to see this song, (this version in particular,) become our nation's National Anthem. 🌊⛰🗽🌊

Am I the only one that think this would be FAR FAR FAR better as a National Anthem than Star Spangled Banner (especially the verses beginning "Oh Beautiful, for Pilgrim's Feet" and "Oh Beautiful, for Heroes Proved")?

I am reminded yet again that our ideals, our liberty, and our country are worth killing for, and even dying for. I was not at tough as the Marines and did not pass basic, but I took an oath at age 17 that will stick with me to the end. I want to thank all who live their lives in service to this country. I generally serve myself and my family, and I can't help but recognize that some people serve all of us and do it selflessly. This country is nothing without the good people of honor who serve us. I know it's not Veterans Day, but I want to say thank you very much to the people who preserve our liberty and heritage. They care nothing of my race, socio-economic status, clan or caste. It's never been perfect, but it's still the greatest country that ever existed.

Listening to this makes me think of the founding fathers, soldiers in the independence and civil wars, all the way through the modern history where millions of ordinary American fighting for liberty.
