A lot of the folks in that video looked confused, almost in a "we know where the smoke came from and it's just a laptop so can't we just put it out real quick" type of way lol completely ignoring that any potential fire around jet fuel deserves evacuation to be taken 100% seriously

Saw the TikTok video of the plane evacuating. The man on the right kept arguing with people and went for his belongings in the overhead compartment. This slowed down the whole evacuation process. It’s really simple. There was a fire in the back of the plane. When they tell you to evacuate, everyone has to get off the plane as fast as possible. Don’t argue even if it’s a false alarm. Downside to a false alarm is the flight is delayed. Downside to getting stuck on a burning plane is a lot of dead bodies. The man on the right needs to stop being selfish and stop being stupid.

@@johnscura8716 Tossing a burning bag out of a plane apparently isn't a good idea because you may block an emergency exit (which now has burning stuff under it) and even ignite stuff that's outside of the plane (luggage, spilled fuel,...). Apparently the FA also prohibited the guy to toss the burning device outside. The flight staff is trained, this guy is not. Either way, if the FA says GTFO and leave your stuff... @@johnscura8716 I get he wanted to help, but it’s be smarter to just ask a flight attendant what to do. Especially if the flight attendant told him to not open the door. They fire containment bags that the laptop could have been tossed in. From there they would have just dumped a bunch of water in it.

@@johnscura8716 Do not mess around with fire near a plane loaded full of jet fuel. Best to evacuate quickly then sort it out afterwards.Besides that, following crew member instructions is both common sense and the law. Flight attendants aren't just there to look nice and be waiters.

They have fire bags for batteries. By opening an airplane door when the told not to, and throwing out a burning backpack, you prevent the crew from determining the actual cause and shut down that exit as being usable. Do you think air crews are less prepared than you in an emergency? Dumb dumb dumb and your reaction when told to evacuate was even worse.

This man! Watch the video! He blocks the aisle for an extended time while he goes through his belongings in the overhead bin. He needs to be criminally charged. I don't buy his heroics he describes in this video. Watch the one shot by a passenger trapped in the rear waiting on this guy to finally move. When he does, the entire aisle ahead of him is empty, that's how long he held things up.

A prime example of what not to do! The flight crew would have handled the fire easily (theres fire containment bags and dozens of fire extinguishers on board the aircraft) but instead these guys blew a $200k door/slide; which prompted the crew to evacuate the whole plane and on top of that if you watch the other video the dude clearly blocks the whole isle for several minutes just so he could go through his bags! I definitely think the company should pursue legal actions!

I find it remarkable that you are publicly admitting here that you acted contrary to the instructions of the flight crew. Not only is it completely irresponsible behavior that put airport staff in danger, but you also delayed the evacuation process. The heroic way in which you describe the incident shows that you are certainly not aware of the consequences you could face.

Ein rauchendes Laptop kann man kühlen und ohne großes Risiko für alle „verräumen“- ein sich entzündendes Laptop aus einer flugzeugtür schmeißen; im schlechtesten Fall direkt neben ein Tankfahrzeug gefährdet leben! Hier feiert sich jemand als Held, der die Sicherheit aller gefährdet hat und durch sein Verhalten eine Evakuierung erst notwendig gemacht hat.

I am sorry Oliver, once the decision is made to evacuate, you must follow the orders of the flight crew. I can understand your trying to resolve the emergency…..but the crew only has the information they have at the time. The Captain is getting multiple information from many sources , you should have just evacuated .
