***** It's film, not TV. The newsreels were shown in British cinemas.

gotham61 So why is it on magnetic tape then?

***** I don't see any analog tape artifacts, the white vertical lines you refer to are film scratches. Looking more closely however, I do see a few digital tape artifacts, such as at the top of the image @ 2.26, and on the right side @4.09. This suggests that it was transferred to a digital tape system like D9 or HDCAM, probably in the late 1990s or early 2000s. This is a pretty pointless discussion. I'm a (retired) professional video engineer, and I'm done arguing.

I was in Nurnberg 65 to 67 with the 34 th field artillery as the Commo radio repair tech. I left the love of my life behind. Wonder is she still alive and how she faired over the years. It just wasn’t the right time for me.

I know how it feels to leave the love of your life😔I had to do the same. We were from different planets. It broke my heart and I never recovered from it. I could never forget him and the love never went away. Luckily, I got in touch with him after three decades and we are still in touch. It is so sensational that you still think of her. I sincerely hope and pray she's still alive and you hear from her one day. Not everyone in this world finds the love of their lives and when they do, very few let them go😔Sending you peace and love🙏

Germany was THE place to be as a duty station for the Army. My Dad was drafted in '66 and originally trained in field artillery but was switched to combat engineer and told he'd learn his new MOS with OJT in Germany. He served at Dexheim, Germany 66-68 with the 12th Engineers, 8th Division. He brought my German mom home with him.

Lol Same thing with my one of my uncles. He went to a bar in West Germany while stationed out there back in the 80s, some young lady saw him first glance and approached him and long story short got married a month later. They are still happily married and have a son who is my cousin.

It is interesting. My father also served in Germany, but not in the US Army, but in the USSR army (I'm from Russia if anything) from 1989 to 1991 (group of Soviet troops in the GDR)

And my wife was stationed in Germany early 70's with the HHC 7th Engr Bde Ludendorff Kaserne and brought me (the German boy) home to the US. Yes, it sometimes, if rarely, it happens the other way around.

Loved the background music. Anyone stationed there in the late 60s, as I was (Augsburg), probably listened to Radio Caroline, as well as Armed Forces Radio. Forty years later, my son was stationed there. And after that, my daughter and son-in-law. He was Air Force and still is.
