NVX makes great SQL subs, the VCW hits and sounds real good. The NSW is a good sub for SQL also, it's just half the power of a VCW.

I've heard a set of these subs and they do get low. I say more of a SQ subs but does it all very nicely. Great review my man.

@@paquesepas6696 Best is to go online and search, but I know Infinity Kappa makes a nice SQ sub. Skar has a hybrid sub for SQ/SPL does a good job, I think it's their SVR series. Dayton Audio rss265ho-44, not all are affordable,lol. But these are just a few of many. I have a set of the Skar SVR 12 and they are great sounding. I had a set of Infinity, but they didn't hit the low notes to well, definitely a SQ sub. hope this helps.

When you put thicker speaker Wires it help with the sound quality especially ofc wires

Xr is a very worthy sub, it can take distortion well without blowing, I've seen that firsthand. Tells me it's a real sub well put together. The sound is crisp but don't expect spl from it unless your box is bigger than recommended

American Bass No nonsense No Joke. I use a couple of 1 ohm dvc for SPL with my SQ EVLs for extra punch and lower Ohm rating.

Um did you just imply EVL is for SQ? That sub has weak motor force.. BL is quite low

If I were to have 2 of these but let's say the dual 4 ohm version, and I had each one wired to the amp that has 4 speaker connections (1 channel amp with 2- and 2+) Would the amp bridge the 2 subs on the inside of the amp to a 1 ohm load❓ Amp is kicker cxa800.1. thanks

dam thats a heavy cone or mms, probably why it sounds so smooth, i kinda like the edgy dry sound, JL subs have a nice smooth sound to them as well but so expensive and probably not worth it imo. I tried the 13w7, 8w7 and they both have similar tone.

I prefer the American bass XR over the skar EVL . Louder, go lower and more musical. Both are great subs thought.

19.5 liters is what converted to cubic feet? i dont know the conversion. google says 0.68 cubic feet? that is too small for this sub right

Yes that’s way too small this 12” needs 2 to 2.5 cuft average.

Actually on this subwoofer there were no TS parameters given at all in the manual ,only suggested box requirements and power rating. Not sure why they didn’t put TS parameters in the manual?

Question if you had a choice for highest SPL;which would you choose? I'm running an audiopipe 1500. 2 12 XRs, 2 12 XFLs, 1 Sundown 12 or 15 X or ZV2 series?

@@HiFiVector I already have 1 XR in a box with a kerf port. It hits 45 to 55 hertz pretty hard specifically 49 hz .The lows could be better. I threw a Rockville 18 beside it and it was even louder and lower, but took up too much room.

Whats the xmax on this? And the displacement? The manual says the frequency reaponse is 30 to 500hz so will this not play under 30hz??

They play under 30. American bass is not the best for product specification listings.

I have 2 of the 12’s 4ohm and a JP23 v2 in route to my house. I did some extensive research and I really believe that’s going to a great match up. Did you ever find an amp to pair these with? If so what are your thoughts?

I you should give 2 xr 12’s at least true 1k each and really for full potential 1500 each. I am not sure if that Val will even put out 2k a lot of AB amps Don’t put out what they are rated at. What’s your amp budget? I will tell you a couple that would be a good match.

Ran a 10" dvc 4ohm for over 2years on a rp2k still needed more power🤣.. gets low.. now running 2 xfl 1022s and they need more power lol

I have a 12 inch elite , and swapped it out for a 12 inch XR 2 ohm sub . The box is a 2.5 cu ft box tuned to around 33 hz. It seems like maybe that box is not optimal for the XR, maybe they would prefer a smaller box as it seems a little boomy . What is your suggestion on ported box size for 1 12 in XR.

@@HiFiVector I’m not sure of the port area . I know it’s the box build that American Bass used to have on their website as a recommendation for the XFL sub I believe. I don’t see it on their website anymore . Amp I’m running is the Kicker CX 1800.1 which pits out the same power at 1 or 2 ohms . It was definitely a lot more controlled when tan on the elite at 2 ohms . Which makes me think the box or port area is a little much for the XR.

I have one in a 1.8cu tuned to 43hz with a skar 1500 clamped, sounds tight and accurate but I'm thinking my box is tuned too high. It bumps nice and hard even on old school songs

These are a higher level sub but they need more power. They are a little louder and a little deeper but they aren’t as accurate as the R3’s for straight up double bass metal so far that and the fact you have a 800 w amp id choose the R3’s . I own both and I love both they are just different.

I just got one and holy shit box is tuned to 34 and they play as low as 24 well I thought I loved the hd but dam one move as much if not more air than the hds idk may just be the car

It depends on the woofer, the box and what sound you like. I don’t agree with the old school mentality where guys say SQ tuning is super low like 30 hz. Each woofer is different and sometimes tuning too low can make a subwoofer sound deep but non musical with no definition. In my opinion a good range is 35hz to 39hz depending on factors and the sub itself. There is no one size fits all box tuning and net cu ft. Sometimes you have to actually compensate a box design to fix a peaky sub. Or maybe a dull sub. So many things come into play. Also personal preference and what music type you listen to.

@@HiFiVector im into rap metal drum and bass and anything that makes since my Playlist is a time traveler from marty robins to 50 cent to killswitch engaged to maduk to Curtis Mayfield depends on the drive i have southern bass Playlist to nyc majors so on so i ran everything from hcca to kicker cvx but idk the hds kind of was a middle ground with alot of force so im a grab some xrs for my 08 audi a6 do a sql build idk if she can take two hds on two 1800 ap amps

In my opinion u want sound quality not much spl u shouldn't run 12s 12s and up r ment for loud bass sound quality is more of 10s u get that punch and bass trust me iv had 10s if had 10s I got to say sound quality came from a 10 not 12 and I'm gearing up for a system with an xr 10 only one telling u iv owned alot of America bass xfls there subs r amazing best subs iv ever owned but I'm not liking the extreme bass from the 12s no more I want quality but something that has and can get loud on some occasions

Both are loud and have good SQ vxf has more excursion and can take more power. In the 15” version the vxf is more accurate but the 12” versions both very good.

Hifi! Thank you sooo much for that! I'm TORN between sealed and ported for my ext cab truck center console. I can def do 1.6 per sub sealed but I usually do ported. Idk if I'd be able to fit a comfortable console for ported. I'm running a JP23v2 (2800rms) on the 2 @1ohm. What's smallest ported box that tuned around 32hz that'd be "better than sealed to make it worth the bigger box? I didn't see VAS on here btw. I'm a newb maybe I missed it?
