Hershey added butyric acid to their milk turning it partially sour, but giving it a longer shelf life. In WW2 Hershy got the rights to provide chocolate for US army ration packs. This made the soldiers desire the same taste when they got back home, forcing all other American chocolate companies to use the same process, normalising the flavour of US chocolate to this day. Butyric acid is also one of the main components of vomit, especially baby vomit, which is why it tastes so weird to non Americans (and at least one American).

@@DadBudTours Pom-Bär comes from pommes, the german abrevation for pommes frites. So in the UK the correct name would be somewhat like chip-bear. 🙂. i was a little bit wrong with the origin. They nowadays are produced in the Netherlands, but were at first introduced in Germany by Wolf in 1987, same manufacturer as Goldfischli.

( although ingredients would vary so would variations of them ) maybe a good video be uk vs usa taste testing of the same product but made in thus country ,kitkat and twix and starburst is british origin too , so could do a skittles kitkat twix starbust UK vs USA

@@DadBudTours i get the savers UHT milk sometimes , but morrisons " malties " AKA shreddies , is superior to the nestle branded shreddies , they stay crunchy for longer and are literally 1/3 the price
