This dance is very powerful. It spreads to Zimbabwe too. It originates to the Kalanga tribe. Kalangas are found in Botswana and Zimbabwe. When there is drought rain dance events are held. I once went to one event. And no matter what no matter the day and the unlikely of possibility of rain that day of the year. That day it shall rain! I've seen lightning hit in the middle of a really really sunny day when they started dancing! I've seen it live. I always tell the story of how they literally made it rain that day no one ever believes me in the city 🤣😂this dance is soo powerful. Ancestors are really appreciated in Africa

What I really love about many of these traditional african dances (aswell as the accompaning music), is that they are making music with their steps (the shakers on their feet). Their movement is making music and their movement is conveying meaning.

One thing not talked about is that most Africans don’t even know dances, tribes or even existence of other African countries and are finding out from channels like yours, it is quite a vast vast continent

No offence or disrespect intended towards anyone, similar to many other indigenous cultures around, song and dance was a form of celebration and/or a recording of important events or people in their past/history. What energy, the rhythm, synchronicity, passion and energy are clearly evident and stunningly beautiful. Great point about the difference between western music beats.

Its funny you mentioned rain. Because this particular dance - Hosanna, is a raindance.

Thnx guys for responding to my Kalanga culture dance here in Botswana. Yes those are 3 drummers responding to each other in a synchronized way... and they keep switching it up... hence you hear the heart beat sound.

Nothing like the true rhythm, not duff duff music! Horizontal folk dancing or Horizontal square Dancing is great as is the beat in many ancient indigenous music! I don't follow any sports! But bedroom golf and The Innerspring Olympics? Does get my attention! Hope you enjoy too. Lol
