The thing I admire most about the Red Arrows is they fly much older jets than other display teams which don’t have all the modern State-of-the-Art computers that help balance and fly the aircraft. It’s pure flying skills, which is why they’re so admired worldwide.

I have seen them many times over the years as a HUGE airshow fan. They never put on anything less than an amazing show, one memory that particularly stands out is when they flew in led by a Spitfire. The Spit was going as fast as it possibly could and the jets were going so slow they were trying not to fall out the sky but it looked so amazing its still one of my favourite moments in life

My (army) unit was at RAF Old Sarum back in the mid 70s. The Joint Warfare Establishment was also on the camp and visiting officers were being given a display by the Red Arrows. I live in an area of England where they perform about 6 times a year, plus as ex Royal navy I saw them regularly at Navy air days and the navy weeks in the big UK Naval stations. they do get a bit mundane when you see them, or any other display team about 10 to 12 times a year. However they regularly win the RIAT (this particular film comes from the RIAT air show) best display team in the world, competing against all of the other top international fighter display teams, like the Blue angels, the Thunder birds, the French Patroille De France, and the like (oh the judges are not English as well), So that says just how good they really are.

They used to do a big airshow in Biggin Hill, an aerodrome in the south east of England and we used to get all the planes for the show fly over my garden. we still occasionally see the Red Arrows fly to Eastbourne for that airshow and they fly everywhere in close formation. It's always such a pleasure to see them. One of the things that really upsets me is that the defence office has cut back massively on the big military shows. My favourite childhood memories was going to the Royal Tournament in Earls Court and getting to see and talk to the service people (mostly men in those days). As a kid it was truly a wonderful experience. I had a paratrooper costume that was my pride and joy when I was about 7 and having real Paras come up to me and salute me before sorting out my beret and uniform, teaching me to stand to attention and things like that... just a kids dream come true. Not to mention it was such a vital connection between our service people and the public which can only be a bad thing to have lost in the long run.... Oops that turned into a trip down memory lane and a little rant. But yeah, the red arrows are something to make sure you see live if you haven't. I'm hoping to see the blue angels when I'm next over the pond!

I have seen the Red Arrows display many times ever since I was a small boy. They are the source of great national pride. Their aeroplanes are British Aerospace Hawks, when they were formed in the mid sixties they used a tiny jet trainer called a Folland Gnat, they were even prettier. I was at the RIAT in 2018 and saw that display. I was at the TT races in the mid 80's and saw them perform over Douglas Bay. I was stood on a big hill just north of the town (now granted city status by HMQ) and was looking down at most of the show, it gave a very different perspective. Their current base (which is due to close very soon and the Arrows will be moved) is about twenty-five miles as the crow flies from my home, so occasionally they fly over in transit. We could see them practicing in the winter from the roof of the Fire Training School roof when I worked there. I am very glad that you enjoyed seeing them so much. About fifteen years ago the Blue Angels were touring the European air displays and I was lucky enough to see them at the show at RAF Waddington near Lincoln. They were very, very good, but their display style is different partially because their aeroplanes are so much bigger and more powerful. Many happy returns Nanny Violet! xx It would be worth your time having a quick look at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, they are a major attraction at UK air displays.

Hi again Similar to Kathryn, I grew up near Lincoln were there was a number of RAF bases and we had Vulcans, Tornadoes, Warthogs and....the red arrows regularly fly over our house. We lived in the countryside and the RAF used to fly so low over the house. One second it was birds tweeting away and then a Tornado would scare the devil out of you as it screamed passed. There was like a woosh noise afterwards too due to the disturbed air in the wake of the jet. I can remember once, my dad and I were putting a new roof on the barn and the red arrows started to practise their show in above our field. We just sat on the scaffolding, opened the flask of tea and watched them, it was brilliant, best memory ever. They also did the head on manover, where two plans head straight at each other and then turn side on and just miss each other, right in front of where we where sat, I thought that I could have touched them they were that close. My dad's passed away now but thanks to the red arrows I have one of the best father and son memories ever.

I've lost count of the number of times I have seen the Red Arrows over the years and they never fail to thrill. The skill, dedication and meticulous attention to detail displayed by these pilots and those who support them are second to none. I have a colleague whose husband, recently retired from the service, was a pilot on the team. He now teaches aerobatics to civilians. I only found out when his young son blurted it out to me. He laughingly shrugged it off, telling his son that he should stop mentioning it to everybody, as if it were nothing to write home about. As is the case, those who do the most incredible things are often the least likely to want to blow their own trumpet. I hope that you will be able to see the Red Arrows 'live' some time. Best wishes to you both from the UK.

Hi Debbie & Natasha If you like military jets low to the ground and at speed, I think you will get a buzz out of videos on the 'Mach Loop' in Wales 😀 I always enjoyed watching the Red Arrows at the Biggin Hill air show. Keep the videos coming All the best Ray

Yeah the Mach loop is crazy. I watched a you tube video taken from the cockpit of a Typhoon Euro fighter. It takes you around the loop and then over the lake district and over windermere I think. You ladies need to watch that one.

I live in Shrewsbury, and RAF Cosford is about ten miles away. Cosford is home to the RAF museum and the Museum of the Cold War. Every year when the Cosford Air Show is on, I get the Red Arrows about twenty feet above my house.

The Red Arrows used to fly over our house en route to their training areas, always loved seeing them.Love your videos, and your reactions to stuff that we grew up with and seem "normal" to us.You should check out a guy called Fred Dibnah, sadly no longer with us,but an absolute legend. He was a Steeplejack by trade, and one video shows him climbing a factory chimney without any harness or safety gear, all 200 feet of it.Keep the videos coming ladies!

Many years ago I was sailing ⛵ on the South Coast of England from Pool harbour when we heard this noise coming from behind us, when we turned to look there were the Red Arrows coming straight at us literally just above the sea as we were right inline with the centre of the beach as the Arrows made their way in to do a surprise entry into their routine over the beach and as they approached they just lifted over my mast so as to not sink us with their jet wash then dropped again to start their display. You both said how much you liked the smoke but let me assure you that when you are directly under it the smell of burning air fuel mixed with the chemicals for the colours is horendous. But we did have great front row seats.

I live just south of Lincoln and see them practicing all the time. Next year, they move to RAF Waddington, which is my way so they will be practicing over our village. My friend’s husband was a red arrow until last month. It’s a very cool job but she banned him from talking about practices as he kept telling her about mistakes and near miss situations!

When I was a kid, we went to a lot of airshows (Dad had been in the RAF, as had his father and brother). Most of them featured the Red Arrows and it was always an amazing sight. This brings back so many happy memories.

You should look up the Black Arrows (111 Squadron). They flew Hawker Hunters, considerably larger aircraft. They finished with a 22 aircraft “bomb burst”. Unforgettable Regarding tight formations I have some programmes from the Hendon Air Shows my father went to in the 1930’s. They contain photos of the squadrons flying in formation tied together with ribbons.

When the red arrows attend the Air show in Blackpool, I live along the coast and I park myself in the attic and as they reform over sea they fly right past my house. I've nearly pitched out of the window jumping around! They're so close I can see the pilots unbelievable x

Always best to see them in person. When they do their split and fly off in different directions the fun is working out where they will fly back in from and it's often when they do the low pass cross in front of the crowd.

I worked with these in the RAF in the early eighties (sort of), I was an RAF fireman, and we had to be able to shut the aircraft down and make the weapons and ejector seat safe. They looked modern then, but, unlike me, dont seem to have aged at all. I agree they are great looking planes, I always thought they looked like flying dolphins.

Omg!!! I just had to tell you!!! I watched your video this morning and loved every second. Later on I had to make a long journey for my work tomorrow in the north of England. I had to take a diversion as a large section of the motorway was closed due to an accident, and there were so many traffic lights I was getting bored! Then I was waiting at yet another red light and you’ll never believe it, but the Red Arrow flew across almost over the top of me! It was so loud!!!! That was one red traffic light I was glad to be stuck at! I can just imagine what you ladies would have been like!! 😮

Hi! Still loving your videos! I am a bit of a aero nut. My dad used to design engines for fighter planes, and I lived in MD for a year & lived with one of the guys who flew Airforce 1. He invited my Dad over to stay & took us to an event at Andrews. He said the Blue Angels are "nothing" compared to the Red Arrows. Maybe it is one of those things, when you know, you know!? The skill difference is incomparable. American's are the best at many things, but Britain kicks ass at more things than the USA will ever be willing to give us credit for. I love you both. Your channel is ace. Thank you! x
