Parliament raised an army of the people and The English Civil War ensued 1642-1651 with Parliament winning, chopping off the King's head, doing away with the monarchy but as stated above, Oliver Cromwell became a tyrant and when he died a monarchy with powers much curbed by Parliament was agreed.

I've always wondered though what would happen if she used her power but entirely for the benefit of the people. Let's say _hypothetically_ (can't stress that enough) she uses her power and all of a sudden, prices and taxes are down, wages are up, the economy is great, and the general happiness of the nation's citizens rises. Would it still damage the monarchy? Cause ultimately it's the people that decide whether or not that institution has any real power, but if the people suddenly benefitted massively from that institution using its power, would the people still have the same animosity for it, or would public perception change for the better? I always wondered about that...🤷🏻

@@KissMyFatAxe ..on the whole the people have less animosity toewards the Royal Family than politicians ...I doubt the Royal Family would ever finish unless it did try and use its powers, as the last thing we want is another load of pointless politicians who can't agree on sod all if they went...I mean Australia aren't a fan of the Royal Family on the whole, but they voted to keep the Queen as Head of State as the alternative becoming a Republic would mean more politicians and a lot more expense

Whilst 'The Crown'' TV series is interesting, it is total fiction based around actual events. The series is NOT factual, it is A writer's interpretation of the truth. No-one knows what is/was said behind closed doors.

Completely true, my bothers best mate is a barrister, he said many years ago that the Judge in the crown court exercises the powers of the queen or the crown, so in brief if she walked into one of her crown courts and a Judge even attempted to pass judgement on her the law states they should immediately be arrested for contempt of court and imprisoned immediately with length of sentence to be decided by the queen herself which could be anything she wanted. This has never happened and probably never will, but there has been drafts and discussions by legal experts in the crown court behind closed doors it would probably be 30 days incarceration and Permanente removal of any involvement in the British courts and all titles removed permanently for judging against HRH as one of her Judges.
