@@angelaberni8873 Yes I have a lot of respect for him having the courage to tell his story while a lot of people would be too embarrassed or ashamed to. I also admire how this individual learned from his terrible mistakes and completely changed his life around. A lot of people would continue down the path of committing crimes or developing unhealthy coping mechanisms and becoming an addict or something even worse. It’s about learning and growing in life from the mistakes we make. When we don’t learn from them, that’s when there are problems.

I'd love to talk to this guy. My dad was a drug mule back in the day in Costa Rica. Oct 13, 1999, he called me and said, "if you hear I'm dead, don't believe it". Exactly one week later I got a call at 6am from one of his "friends" that he was dead. 3 hours later the cops came to my door to tell me he was dead. I've spoken to a guy who was part of yhe relocation program in Canada and he said, at the time, it was impossible for this information to travel so quickly between central America and Canada

So....An argument can be made that smuggling drugs was worth the extreme risk, given the money to be made. On the other hand, you're in an incredibly permissive, positive environment (for a prison), and you decide to try and escape?! That really seems to me to be reckless, especially given where you were: A 3rd World Country. Plus, the more stupid stuff you do, the more the US Embassy is compromised in trying to fight for you. You yourself said that there was no human rights here, and yet you test the system?! You are so lucky to be alive, so lucky to have gotten out. You did some profoundly stupid things.

I traveled down in South America in the early 90's and spent five months in Ecuador, as well as Columbia and Peru. It's a very interesting place to visit. There wasn't many gringos down there then as it was considered too dangerous. There's nothing cool with smuggling drugs. Don't do it especially in foreign countries. Love the story behind your wife and it’s like a full circle ⭕️ 😂 life has a funny way of going round and round. I was a drug addict and dealer and now I’m a drug worker helping the homeless lot that I hung around.

The host asked really stupid questions. You should have asked was he ever challenged in prison? What did he do for money in prison?
