I think my mum came to one of my sports events, maybe two, my dad ... when he was alive, I bet he couldn't even tell you what, if any, sport I ever did. That said, even when I was getting awards for being top of the state in academic subjects no one showed up for that either, I bet if you asked my mum right now she'd have no idea/recollection of it ever happening.

“No-one can make it, everyone’s got something going on.” The most relatable Australian sentence ever to exist. 😂 Edit: I love how you American’s cannot comprehend anything. I said the most relatable Australian sentence ever to exist: meaning as Aussies we can all relate to this at one point. I never said it was only referring to one country. Like honestly, sorry but you Americans are not the only country that matters. Specifically since the context of the video is USA vs Aussie and the quote is from the Aussie part.

He did later give me a lovely car though, bless him but I waited 9yrs. And he still paid for nearly every car that I ever had, even in my 40’s. To be fair a ton of American families buy their kids old hand me down cars after they get their license, and I ton of them give favoritism to the daughters too. Some of them are a bit lenient too with staying out late but those parents are kinda a dying breed. America aren't a monolith (and I never said other Western countries like Australia were).
@andrearace1168

No matter the country, people like to project the stereotype of the country they're from since that's what people want to see. As an American, it's a shame that it seems Americans have respect for other countries and cultures, but that respect is not reciprocated. I also agree with the person above, that our culture isn't monolithic. My parents never went to a single one of my games, and never bought me a car of any variety

First off, good job with those American accents! Secondly, the family meetings I had growing up were about finances. My family was lower middle class, and with my parents both working in education, we were barely making ends meet. Their attempt at doing an american acccent is both hilarious and painfully accurate as to how Americans sound to people w accents

It's the Americans who have the accent to everyone else. Noone has their own accent; people just have accents compared with each other. That's how it works.

Spot on? Where tf do you live in the states where their accent was even remotely accurate? It was funny for sure, but they sounded nothing like any American accent. All the vowel shifts where the same except for the rhotic “r” which made it sound like a weird fusion.

"I have a basketball game" "Every single one of your family members will be there" RIP to all the American siblings like me that couldn't care less about sports, had 3 brothers that all played sports, and were forced to go to every single sporting event to show support. This definitely makes the list of reasons why I moved to Australia

LOL yeah I have no doubt you love our laid-back outlook on life. I guess we're a little more detached.. in a good way though. We simply don't care for that sort of stuff and don't really make a big fuss about every little thing. Ensures the important stuff is prioritised.

@@dibbidydoo4318 Yeah, when it is. We support each other within our direct family. We don't go and invite the whole shabang just to show off our children.

As an American I can say that 'family meetings' were always just an excuse for my mom to tell at us for something 😂 also the American accents were great. I always find it funny to hear it back from others perspectives lol
