July 77 when General Zia imposed Martial Law and December 79 when soviets invaded Afghanistan and the revolution of Iran as well. Your father must have had alot of info about the events of that time. Since i was born in mid 90's i have no idea what was Islamabad be like in 70's most probably a ghost town as its current population in 1 million

AHSAN ALI yes it was a different time. Except for Baluchistan the country was peaceful since Zia and the army had consolidated power in the country and Bhutto’s allies were in exile. We went to Swat every holiday because it was peaceful and beautiful. Islamabad felt like a new city and the Margala Hills were empty except for goats! The Faisal Mosque just started construction. But you could tell Islamabad would become a great city because of all the green space and parks.

I am an Afghan who lived in Pakistan during the ruling of Taliban I was a 12 year old when we moved to Peshawar we lived there for 5 years now I live in America I still love Pakistan and their people I watch Their tv program's here on KZfaq I understand Urdu and speak pashtu . Pakistani people are very kind friendly and loving ❤️❤️❤️

Once Pakistani knows you are travelers, you will be bombarded with hospitality: tea, accommodation, food, car and love!!!! It is FREE!!! Never say NO to them!!! You will be treated like king and queen!!! I was treated like prince!!! Sooo much goood memories to share!!!! Show them your love and sincerity!!!! Get used to them!!! Hospitality is very normal!!! Do not be shy!!!! Just learn to accept everything-it is normal!!!

I have already visited Pakistan!!! It was most amazing and memorable traveling in the world!!! I was being fed three times a day for free! Hospitality and warm welcoming of people was beyond my imagination!!! Serving Tea is for free was the most blessing ever! Most of the time, I have free ride! I only spent $200 in two months!!! Ever since I started watching these videos of Pakistan, I started defending the country's name against whoever speaks foul of her. I've shared a lot of the good vlogs amongst my Indian friends and people were just as amazed as I was. The heartwarming smiles and humble gestures of the people continues to win my heart over and over with each videos. I hope I could be there to experience it myself someday. Such a wounded nation yet so serene, welcoming and hopeful. Guys they don't deserve the hate & prejudice.

It's a stereotype but people are not so ignorant anymore, at least not the youths or the average citizens of any civilized nations for that matter anyway. We might never break through politicians and some of the elders but that's okay.. The rest of us, no matter where we're from just wants a peaceful normal lives and we all know it. I live in Australia and here us Pakistanis and Indians live together, eat together, stand with each other during good and bad times but as soon as we return to our countries and turn on the television, some sort of hyper nationalism takes over because the political environment in both countries is so toxic.

The Monal restaurant was my favorite place. A great location to visit during the night time. My time in Pakistan was amazing. It is a very friendly place, aside from the negativity that the media puts out.
