great looking doughnuts. I'm fascinated to see the engineering of the equipment...and that mixer looks at least 60 years old, and it's still doing its job. The folks that design equipment...they deserve their dough!

I like how instead of buying a fancy new mixer with a timer he uses a wrist watch, instead of using a dough bowl lifter he uses a 5 gallon bucket, It just reminds me of my Dad and now myself

I work at a bakery, amazing how much of the equipment is exactly the same lol, We do both cake and yeast raised. Much more yeast raised than cake tho. I imagine it's a full shift for the fryer

Those look SO scrumptious! It's so interesting to see exactly how they're made. I wonder how often the oil is changed in the fryre? It looks as if it's heated and used quite a lot.

I'm only 40, but I remember in about 1987 waiting for school to start in the Sunshine foods bakery and watching the donuts float in the lard. They were 15 cents.

Being a baker gives you constant physical exercise - on your feet all shift, constant moving, bending, lifting, reaching, pulling, pushing. Great for physical maintenance - IF you can refrain from over-sampling the goods you produce!
