+VladSparr 95 I like seeing what they're doing with the sport overseas, but if they brought any of the European teams over to the states to play it would be painful to watch. No hate towards the European teams, but where they are now and how they play isn't hardnosed football. I could see a high school football team here in the states putting up a lot of points against these guys.

+Stokey Junior Don't know if you're American or British or whatever, but I was born and raised on football in the states. We start playing when we are young around 10 years old to learn the sport well up into junior high and high school and some make it to the college level of football and I even went to school with a guy who plays in the NFL now for the Washington Redskins. Brandon Scherff is his name. It is a tough sport, but a fun one. If you really want to play, join your school's team when football season comes around. Get in shape, work out hard, and be ready. There is nothing like walking out onto the field with the guys that you've been training with for week after week to go up against another group of guys that have been doing the same and want to beat you, but you gotta want it more than they do. Football season will be here before you know it.

Find a way. The European side of the game appears to be more a thing of passion then the systems that are in place here in the States. It looks to be more amateur based and does not appear to have the college system that exists in the NCAA. So it looks like it's going to be a personal journey kind of thing. Like with most things in life, if you want it badly enough, you will find a way.

Not exactly. There is flag football played in some schools at the moment but there's no contact until university level. A lot of universities have teams and it's pretty popular but the standard is american high school level as these guys have been doing other sports for their whole childhood. Some rugby players will find the switch less jarring but the 15+ years of 'soft skills' American counterparts would have simply aren't there. After Uni there's 50 or so amateur teams, 3 divisions of proficiency with the top level being where they pick the guys in this video from. London teams mainly win everything because that's where most of the black athletes live.

Huh? If you're American, usually Americans refer to university as college. You then interchangeably use soccer and football making a rather confusing statement. You probably meant football (soccer) isn't going anywhere, but then before you said (American) football days are numbered which doesn't make much sense given what you said before unless you meant that the possible growth of (American) football would diminish participation in soccer abroad - well, of course it won't since soccer/football is practically the most popular sport in Europe.

Jon Howard A glaring concern with international gridiron is cultivation of homegrown talent. Alot of European clubs take on American player that weren't quite talented enough to make it to the next level in their country. But they are better than the home pool talent. So they take them to win. This hurts the growth of the sport, you are basically taking 2nd, 3rd rate American talent to play for you. You need to cultivate NFL caliber talent at home. That takes awhile, but the process can be sped up if you stop looking at it from the perspective of American D-NFL.
