This argument involves 4 different groups of people. 1 believes the country singer is guilty of the reported crime (the person who posted this comment that I am now responding to, as well as a few others in the comment section). The second group is comprised of people who believe the country singer is not at fault and that the media is lying (seemingly a majority of the comment section.). The third group simply doesn't care, so they likely haven't posted in this comments section at all. If they have, it's likely they're only pretending not to care. Finally, the 4th group comprises people who are indifferent, or that guilt or innocence is equally likely (I'm a part of this group). So, here's a question to ponder. Take as much time to think about this as you wish before reading the rest of this rather long-winded message. What do all of these groups most likely have in common? The answer is, it is highly likely that many of the people belonging to these groups, if not all, have done little to no research beyond watching this video. My first peace of advice is to take everything we say about this scenario with a grain of salt. Stories like this one sell because they instill anger in people. They encourage you to take up a position and fight over that position viciously in the comments section of articles, blogs, social media threads, or videos like this one. This only serves to divide us more. If you read this and you still have the urge to act, here's a good way to do that. Rather than fighting over who's guilty of which crime in this specific scenario, use this as an opportunity to have a civil debate with someone. For instance, you could talk about the legality of recording other people, which doesn't only involve secretly recording them in their own homes without their knowledge or consent. There's plenty of things to talk about there. You could also change it up a little bit by discussing double standards. As I've read earlier in the comments section, someone posted about how a few girls in their house were recording the guys through a camera sitting in a styrofoam cup. It was thought of as little more than a prank, and nobody thought about the potential legal ramifications involved in this situation. This played out well in the end, but it could imply that girls can get away with recording guys with no consequence's, but when guys do the same thing to girls, it's considered stocking, and can potentially get them arrested. Those are just a couple topic points I've come up with. If anyone sees this and wants to start a discussion on it, I'd love to hear it. I hope I was able to give valuable insight on this topic.
