I am of Scottish heritage, but the Native Americans are probably the only other peoples in which I can relate to, as my family was also driven from their homelands and "relocated". I have had the Honor of being adopted into the Abenaki tribes. I have met both John Trudell and Russell Means, both very honorable Warriors for the Native People, I have taken their words to heart, Know who you are, Know your History, and never forget, and teach the next generations to come. I am at home when I go to pow-wows and reservations, I cannot explain it in words. Never let the Wisdom of our Ancestors be forgotten and be Proud of who you are.

Missikech Kechqua , It was in around 1996-97 during Schimitzun? Pow-Wow at the Pequot Reservation in CT And they were both at the Pow-Wow, I met them at seperate time, but during the same week

I love how this song makes me feel. This country should revert control back to all the tribes that governed the lands where any treaty was broken because of the broken oaths that were made. How else do we stop the growing problems?

There are many babies born to first nations parents who do not resemble either their mother or their father. I was one such child. Auburn hair, alabaster skin, with the greenest eyes that would eventually darken to "hazel"... Neither side could find it in their hearts to accept me. By 9 years, I knew that the spirit has no color, no gender, no race & no accent. This physical world is only temporary. Bless all the spirits residing in this temporal existence... Ahô!

Aho! I hear you exactly and have a similar experience. I am Eastern European decent and have Never claimed to be related to any Native American peoples although I have had 2 N/A Elders tell me that I have an ancient connection to their people. But perhaps we are all related as in Mitakue Oyasin and in stories like Adam and Eve. But I disgress. I am however a member of the Druid Order, London Lodge reorganized 1717 at the Apple Tavern, Covent Garden, London, England. Our ceremonies are very similar to those of Native American Indians. There I've said it. The "I" word! But Indian people I know all call each other Indians, so it is not a term of disrespect like the dredded "N" word. Anyway, we Druids celebrate Mother Earth and Father Sky and because there's no other Druids that I know of on the West Coast, I have naturally gravitated toward a group that honors the same Sources that us Druids do. The Drums and the rhythms vibrate my heart and feet in the same way as my hosts, the local Native Americans. I am honored that I have been accepted by many Native American Indians Tribes and people and given the opportunity to share in some of their ceremonies. I try to honor the Great Red Road by living it's principles. I feel like all men and women are my Brothers and Sisters. Mitakue Oyasin. We are All related. Aho.

I had A DREAM of going to a quiet place deep in NPONA's territory and late at night I have a huge fire, they ALL around me singing and playing the drums and I dance so freely, my arms rise high, wide open with my eyes closed...I dance and sign until I can't move or sign no more...(dancing with wolfs style) ...its AMAZING..!!

This song was taught to me by my teacher and friend Tom Paul (Spotted Eagle) I've searched everywhere on you tube and this was the only version with the spiritual and emotional content that reminded me of him...tomorrow I sing this song for a fallen warrior Lawrence ( LT) Bernard who passed away from Lukemia.

Oh allow me to introduce myself by my Indigenous given name.. Knagua pronounced.. (Keen-ogwah) Its meaning is Raging Wolf or Mad Wolf. The night I was born my great grandfather Nocoma-Hota named me. I grew among the people of the songs origin, and to my knowledge it did not come from the Northern Cheyenne people. I was told since childhood that it came from the Oglala Lakota, specifically the Moves Camp family. Even more specifically the son of one of the grandmothers and original founders of the AIM movement, Grandma Ellen's son, who is a well known, respected, and very rare medicine man in our time.

im oglala too i got given the name Sinte Gla Gla when i was a kid up there on the rez cause i had an encounter with a ratllesnake when i was about 5 or 6 and i still got its rattle and that was like 20 years ago i use to live in batelsand but now i live in oklahoma but anyways i wish i could be there on the 27 , maybe you can record some it i would like to see it

Thank you!! I am of 5 Nations. Maybe 6. Its getting harder to trace my family because so many have passed. Records were burned in a Court House fire years ago. My family traveled so much. Babies born, Elders pass. Without documents to tell us. We have oral tradition. Please ask your elders before its too late. Memories fade. We are all family. Brothers,sisters,cousins. Blessings!!!!!

Thank you for sharing this information. May I know who the the composer of this song is. I wish to be accurate in sharing and I was told that Dennis Banks was the composer. I apologize for the miscommunication. I created this with only good intentions and appreciation of the Nations. I have since had a chance to visit Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and of course California and personally met and even stayed with several people with native American roots. I made this video using photographs I took during a powow in Palo Alto . The video was used to present the case and cause for supporting indigenous cultures. . Years after, the music continues to haunt me.
