Since these species are apex predators, I would assume they are used to others being below them (literally). So something catching them does not compute.

I live in West London and as far as predatory birds go, locally we traditionally get Kestrels, Sparrow-Hawks and Buzzards (and have several nesting pairs of Peregrine Falcon on a couple of the taller buildings) but since last November, we've also had a trio of Red Kites in the area! Had never seen one before - they are *freaking massive* - the alarm calls from everything else when they're overhead is the best way to spot them, the birds go crazy 😂 Absolutely incredible animals ❤

He actually looks terrified. When he gapes his beak, he's panting from stress. His heartrate is elevated, making him overheat. His eyes are also kind of bulging, because he's got them open extra-wide. It's hard to tell because they're so dark and because falcon eyes are pretty round to start with.

Common names can be confusing. A sparrow hawk in the U.S. (American Kestrel - Falco sparverius) is not the same species as referred to as a sparrow hawk in Eurasia (Eurasian sparrowhawk - Accipiter nisus). Completely unrelated.

I’ve had the pleasure to work with an American Kestrel before. They’re such beautiful birds especially in person. They aren’t particularly aggressive and are smart enough to where once they realize you aren’t interested in hurting them they’ll just kind of chill. Like a lot of birds, they’re smarter than people give them credit for!

@@ASMRyouVEGANyetI believe they are referring to falconry, you train the bird and then hunt with it. They have the option to go whenever they want and don't become dependent on you because you are still letting them hunt like they do in the wild. Also you need to have a license in order to be a falconer
