When the Stone Mansion First Came on the Market in 2010, It Was a Sensation. The 33,000-square-foot Palace Was the Most Expensive Listing in the Garden State, With a a Whopping $68 Million Price Tag.

That is absolutely beautiful that’s an entertainer delight. The backyard is perfectly to host, birthday parties, or family, gatherings or friends, friends or acquaintances, or other things in mine. It’s just beautiful even for a small intimate maybe an engagement party or engagement something like that 👑💯

everything sells eventually with the right buyer and the right price If I remember correctly animal taxes run about $300,000+ and like you said operational costs will be significant so you definitely need a consistent substantial annual income to even maintain it

This home will never sell. Its been sitting on the market for almost 8 years guys. Look it up. They reduced it by at least 20 million by now. Its a nice property but my gosh,. How can it not sell.

@@harshpuri2294 I understand what you're saying. I have always been a huge fan of this home but the price point was always too high. The exterior design is stunning. I tour homes all over the country, more notably, prime areas such as California, Florida and Nevada. I have seen stunning architecture. This has potential. Major. Personally I would open the interior some more, transform the "ball room." etc. Wouldn't change one thing about the exterior. It is perfect. The builder/ owner's wife, decided they should move to Florida. It's been literally more than 8 years and the folks who can afford this bracket are buying West or Down South. If I had the money I would buy with room to gut some of the interior. It is such an exquisite property.

I love the stone exterior. Many of the interior rooms are too white for me. You'd have to be filthy rich to afford this home. Just the upkeep and taxes alone have to be extraordinary. However, it is a magnificent structure.

That's the main reason this property remains vacant. $798,000. annually just in property tax for a $33 million dollar estate.

I don’t know if this is something that could be done, and maybe tacky to ask, but could you do a generic post on the cost of maintaining a home like this? Such as taxes, utilities, etc? Just bc I’m nosy and want to know, but also bc if I win the lotto, I’d like to move in there…….this house is stunning.

There must be something incredibly horrible about this property if no one has bought it in 10 years. I myself would say this is maybe a $15M home. I don't see anything about it that stands out over much cheaper properties.

While I believe someone bought it for 27 million, the problem is that Alpine New Jersey is in the middle of nowhere. This same home in an area like Los Angeles would cost hundreds of millions. There is simply nothing to do in and around Alpine New Jersey. I know. I live in New Jersey.

Yeah but this is another example of too much house. 12 bedrooms? Can you even imagine the cost of maintenance? How much does it cost to heat and air condition? What is the cost of grounds keeping? And for what purpose? Alpine is not near any popular entertainment area or even an airport. I don't know why people keep building these "white elephants" but they exist all over the place. Alpine is a quiet, wealthy, private community. There is nothing to do. That is why no one wants it. If this mansion was in LA or some other hot spot for entertainment it would cost hundreds of millions. But here in Alpine New Jersey? Just getting to this place is inconvenient. Miles of road with nothing of interest. Don't even think about the property taxes on a 6 acre parcel. New Jersey has the highest property taxes in America. Not many wealthy people want to piss their money away on this project.
